building type/placement tool question

Recommended Posts

There are a few areas in Bavaia that I know, and I want to model the a bit in FS2004. This means adding buildings, mainly to lakesides, but also in towns.I have Ultimate terrain and Ground envirnment installed (if that makes any difference).I remember seeing in my travels that there was a tool for placing buildings in slew mode, which seems like a great way of doing things, but I want to be able to place them exactly, again, along lakesides, riversides etc), and I have a feeling this tool might be a bit hit and miss. I wonder if someone can Point me to the slew mode tool and instructions on its use. Also, are there any libraries of more old fashioned/Germanic buildings.Oh, I was also wondering if it was possible to access or use the buildings in CFS2 (I seem to remember there are some older buildings in there that could be of use to me.Many thanks in advance

Hi,There are a few tools that allow you to place objects while slewing through FS:Rwy12 (http://www.rwy12.com), this is a freeware tool and there are also many object libraries for this tool.EZ-Scenery (http://www.abacuspub.com), this is a commercial tool. But compared to the freeware tools it has the advantage that you can see the object already while placing (so you don't have to reboot). This tool can basically read any Fs2004 style object library.ObPlacer XML (http://www.scenerydesign.org), this tool is a bit like Rwy12 (also free), but the placement interface give you slightly more control over the placement. I think this makes it more usefull for advanced scenery designers, if you simply want to place objects from libraries available Rwy12 is probably easier.I am not aware of many libraries with objects that are specificly German. So if you really want object that look local, you might have to make them yourself. All the tools I mentioned above create Fs2004 style scenery, so the result does not work in CFS2 anymore. I am not aware of older tools that allow you to slew and objects.

SBuilder is also a program that allows placing objects (buildings) very easy. It will also place the older API macros. Regarding the CFS2 and CFS houses and buildings....the textures are still reusable, so you could just build a new model and use the textures. I have also been wanting to do that...but haven't got around to it, so please report back on your progress. I'm interested in knowing what happens.
