September 5, 200619 yr The improved, and potentially even better, ground texture capabilities of FSX will make objects that are not textured look bland and unreal. The use of solid bright colors on polygons should be passe. There have been many examples of good artistic texturing. A standard, in my humble opinion (IMHO), is the Georender series. once on the ground they look great but setting on FS9 "slime", viewed from a low altitude, the seemed out of place. Now, with less "slime"(1m or better) such well done objects will offer an improved sense of realism. Object size proportion and brightness will also become more critical as ground textures (and PCs) advance. The autogen of the FSX demo seem too bright and the solid red roofs just do not look good (once again in my IMHO). Blending the various elements will be the challenge.Disclaimer - I am not an artist and would never even try to make an object. This is strictly from a single consumer's viewpoint.Dick near 5G8:-hang regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
