What Frame Rate will I expect?

Featured Replies

Hello,Can anyone suggest what frame rate should I set my FS2002 to so that I can get a consistant frame rate? My frame rate is locked at 21fps, but it constantly goes down to 1fps.... Why is that?My system is as follows:Intel P4 1.8A GhzASUS P4S333-VM512 DDR RAM40G HDD 7200rpm64MB Geforce 2 MX400 Video CardWindows XP ProfessionalI personally don't know what would cause my probelm as these hardwares are more than MS FS2002 requirements.Any help would be grateful,ThanksSOHK

ATC 100%Max Vixibility: 60milesThe scenery displays are mostly set to dense to very denseNo shadowsframe rate locked at 21fpsHardware monitor setting at 1024X768X16I'm not sure what else to post regarding Flight sim settings.... If any other settings are needed, please post again and I'll reply them ASAPThanksSOHK

ATC uses a lot of horsepower.

It is possible that you have a 'memory-leak'...This can be caused by a variety of things. I would start by looking for unnecessary programs that may be using memory. A utility program called 'ENDITALL' should help you - by identifying what is running - and give you the ability to close non-essential programs! Some panels or sceneries may also cause the effect you describe! You may also benefit by installing 'RamBooster' a utility that frees up RAM when needed!

Does FS2002 decrease to 1fps then stay there, or jump down to 1fps then back up to a larger number? Do you have something running as well as FS?Bruce.

Well, it can somethimes go to the rate which I locked it at (21fps) and it stays for about 10 secs each time before it goes to 1fps. And I only had ICQ and MSN Messenger running as well. But 512MB Ram should be plenty, isn't it?

512 Mb is enough, however always shutdown applications running in the background. You never know...As for the FPS. Try to use the different Microsoft default settings in the display setup. Also, uninstall applications you don't need and then defrag your harddrive. These are general tips for slower and older computers, but they are always important. I'm usually around 25-30. 18-22 at airports (Simflyers Newark NOT included) with almost all the sliders pretty close to max. 1280x1024x32. No AntiAlias. By the way, will the quality of the sound card affect the smoothness of running FS2002 when I'm flying with the sound turned on??
