Scenery Shortcut?

Featured Replies

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question, however, I will give it a shot. I have been using Scenery Shortcut by Abacus Publishing to place objects in FSX. After installing Service Pack 2, Scenery Shortcut no longer works. Abacus wrote that the installation of the service pack de-activated the object_placement.dll. They suggested moving the .dll to the FSX folder itself and changing the path for the .dll. That did not work and neither did completely removing and re-installing SDK and Scenery Shortcut. If I run regsvr32, it says it can not locate the .dll, however the .dll is in several places. I tried renaming the .dll and changing the xml file to the new name. Nothing I tried works, and Abacus does not support their free programs. I did point out to them that, based on my experience, anyone who installs service pack 2 will lose Scenery Shortcut. Scenery Shortcut, when working, is a nice tool for FSX. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello Jack,You do not need that Abacus utility in order to use the FS X Object Placement Tool. The Object Placement Tool can save placement files directly in the correct xml format. Please see Make Scenery with the Object Placement Tool in the Avsim library:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?&DLID=96257Best regards.Luis

Just use the BGL compiler intead of Scenery Shortcut. Make your scenery in the Object Placement Tool, then save as scenery, not mission. Then you can drag the resulting XML file onto the BGL compiler tool and if done correctly, it should spit out a BGL file with your scenery that can be put in C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XAddon SceneryScenery
