WGS84 projection

Recommended Posts

In Creating Terrain and Land Classification (FS2002SDK), "all source data is expected to use WGS84 projection". Is it necessary to use this projection to create terrain with digital elevation data ?

I have successfully created terrain for a small island groupusing data from a different projection. I simply converted the coordinates of the NW corner of my data to WGS84, and entered thoseas the "Lat" and "Lon" directives in my .inf file. The resulting .bgl file worked fine in FS2002.(Now if I could only figure out how to fix the coast...)The only problem I have noticed is that the "tmfviewer" program from the SDK clips the view, whereas the 1st .bgl I generated (using the coordinates from the original projection) looked fine.My guess is that this will work for you as long as your area of interest is small. (my area is about 10 x 20 miles)>In Creating Terrain and Land Classification (FS2002SDK), >"all source data is expected to use WGS84 projection". Is >it necessary to use this projection to create terrain with >digital elevation data ?
