Program to view GTopo data

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,I am looking for a program that would allow me to extract the GTopo30 altitude data for a certain georeferenced point or a small region. Can anyone recommend such a freeware program?-osman

Hi Osman:if reading a few altitude data is all you want, this might be a bit of an overkill, but MicroDEM will certainly do that (and much, much more):MicroDEM 6.0 (August 2002) freeware, by Professor Peter Guth of the Oceanography Department, U.S. Naval Academy: http://www.usna.edu/Users/oceano/pguth/website/microdem.htmCheers, Holger

I discovered 3DEM a few days ago and find it excellent. Sorry I don't have the URL at hand.

Here's the link for 3DEM:http://www.visualizationsoftware.com/3dem.htmlI found it to be much easier to use than MicroDEM. MicroDEM does lots more, but I think it _is_ overkill for what most of us need to do.I used 3DEM to merge several DEM's for my scenery, in preparation for using the SDK tools to generate mesh.andy

Hello to allsince i download a tar file w100s10.tar from Geotopserver... i try to open it with 3dem and nothing happend. i am using Windows XP, is this a problem? i try to select the world area and then select de *.dem... but the only "error" i get is the "file-selection"-dialog does not disappear after "ok", like it has nothing selected at all. with "cancel" i get the effect of "Nothing"... what do i do WRONG :-(Thanx for any helpFrancis Baca
