November 22, 200322 yr Hi all,i'm a beginner in Mesh. I'm creating scnenry objects with Gmax in the past, and in the future i want to create a new Mesh Scenery Area of Salzburg (Austria). For this, i'm looking for a very high resolution DEM data. But nothing to find.Is there anyone who knows a downloadable Adress where i can get the data? I want to create a minimum of 50m Mesh Scenery, only for Salzburg area. So, i'm very lucky, if there is anyone to help me, find the data. Thanks in front, and i'm very sorry about my bad english :-)Olli
November 22, 200322 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Olli:Salzburg, eh? You have two choices that I know of. 1. SRTM 3-arcsec data (http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/pub_dist.htm), which probably don't match your 50-m minimum requirement, though are certainly worth trying.2. ASTER DEM data (http://edcimswww.cr.usgs.gov/pub/imswelcome/), which are compiled at about 30-m, but have a number of inherent problems. However, you can even request your very own Salzburg area DEM for free, if you can find a suitable cloudfree scene. Here's more info: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=1093&page=In general, it's always useful to do an intensive Google/Yahoo search of web sites and ftp servers that might have local high-res data available without being much advertised (e.g., university or government websites can yield surprising treasures). Also, try http://data.geocomm.com/splash/index.html or http://www.geographynetwork.com/I don't know what particular project you have in mind but if you'd like to use the mesh as a base for other scenery projects you might also consider using one of the available payware Austria meshes instead, such as LAGO or FSGenesis. Hope this helps. Cheers, Holger
