Queston about Mesh modifications and Water

Recommended Posts

Guest GabrielR

Hi, Long ago (In FS2002) I learned how to process STRM Data and organize a little mesh project for an area around SKBO.MS depicts the airport on the right elevation, but the rest of the city is sunken almost 300 below this real counterpart level.Unfortunately MS also draw some non existing lakes in the vicinity of the airport. When doing the Mesh modification, the terrain got its right shape, but the lakes stayed on its original elevation creating some big holes in the new formed ground. How can this be resolved? Is there any local fix to this flaw? This is stoping me from continuig with my project of modifying that piece of scenery. Thanks

Hi Gabriel,It's possible to turn the lakes back to land with a tool like Ground2K4 (by Christian Fumey) but the flattened elevations will remain. If the lakes are fairly small and don't cut into slopes you can use Steve Greenwood's FSTFlatten to adjust their elevation to the surrounding terrain: http://www.fs-traveler.com/flatten.shtml (actually you could do those adjustments in G2K4 too - via a fixed-elevation land LWM poly - but it's probably easier with FSTFlatten).Alternativeley, you could edit the default water HP9 file to remove the lakes or change their elevation but that requires knowledge of the LWM code and has some potential drawbacks too. See this thread: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search (send me a PM with your email if you'd like to receive a copy of the draft tutorial).Cheers, Holger
