August 8, 200421 yr Dear mesh gurus,I am flying round the world, and I discovered that with a few tools, I could use the SRTM data, and improve considerably the landscapes of FS. The legs I fly are 200-400 NM long, and the processing of SRTM data for these distances is not too much time-consuming. I use FSDEM 1.1 (thanks, Emerson) along my planned flight path, and I easily build a continuous mesh without too many problems which are for the most part visually acceptable (like water surfaces a little bit too low with respect to surrounding terrain). But yesterday I stumbled on the problem depicted in the attached image : the runway is 2000 ft higher than adjacent terrain ! This airport is located in Ethiopia (HADT), and I can understand that data for these countries are not always accurate, but this is no more acceptable for my eyes !http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87232.jpgI searched the forums but I did not find a simple way to correct these kind of problems. I understand that the airport altitudes are specified by two distinct types of files : AP***.bgl and FL***.bgl, maybe also AB***.bgl, but modifying these files does not seem straightforward. Can anybody help me, or direct me to tools or tutorials explaining this operation, if it is possible ?Thanks to all people here on this forum, answering so many questions, perhaps including mine !Alain
