Mesh from topographic maps

Hi !Anyone have an idea, which program to use for making mesh maps fro topographic maps ?Have looked at Blackart, but can't get it working right - are missing a great tutorial - beside "Contour Line Extraction from a Difficult Topo Map using BLACKART" from blackarts homepage.KalaKwww.kalak-flightsim.com

Dear KalakI've made a mesh on LOD12 from raw data extracted from topographic maps. In fact the "original data" I get were in "bitmap" style, not in "vector" style. But maybe the tool I use to convert to something right for resample could help to you. The name of the tool is RSI ENVI. It's a very powerful tool for topographic and image processing. The problem: is not free, but you can get a 1 month free-license demo.Regards

Some folks have used Grises50 for this task. I haven't tried this, but you can download a copy here, and a Google search may turn up useful info.http://www.scenery.org/design_utilities_b.htmA common problem with topo maps is the low vertical resolution. Most DEM data has a resolution of 1 meter, but few, if any, topo maps are that accurate.Good luck,Steve
