Two Questions

Featured Replies

Two questions:Is it possible to change the names of the parking spaces from Gate Small, Medium or Large to say Gate 1 or Concourse A, Gate 1? In other words can we give individual names to the gates?I am working on adding AI to an airport and want to have 2 airlines parking at different parts of the airport. Do I create 2 overlay airports so that I can put gates and AI for one airline on one overlay and gates and AI for the other airline on the 2nd overlay? Specifically I am working on KSTL and would like to put TWA/AA traffic on the C/D concourses and SWA traffic at the east terminal. Thanks for any assistance.ERIC PAGE

>Two questions: >>Is it possible to change the names of the parking spaces >from Gate Small, Medium or Large to say Gate 1 or Concourse >A, Gate 1? In other words can we give individual names to >the gates? You are talking about two different things. The "name" of the parking is listed first in the parking list in Goto Airport. The "type" of parking is listed last. In AFCAD the name is the top line, and the type is below it. You can change the "name" part to anything you want, as long as the first part is in the drop down box. Thus, Gate is the only airline choice - not Concourse. You can give it any number you want (i.e. Gate 1); I don't know about letters. The "type" can only be what's in the drop down box below.>I am working on adding AI to an airport and want to have 2 >airlines parking at different parts of the airport. Do I >create 2 overlay airports...Yes, that's correct. Make sure to move the ref points of each overlay closest to the runway you want them to use (it's best if they use different runways for landing). This will help sort the traffic properly. Tom, you can use Gate A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, B4, etc. without any problem. Where a terminal has Concourses A, B, C, & D, you can then number the Gates accordingly.

Thank you guys, those were exactly the answers I needed!ERIC PAGE

Doh! I should know that - I've numbered several airport's gates that way.One thing I haven't tried yet is something like "Gate A", with only a letter - no number. I would assume this works fine too. I guess any combination of letters and numbers should work - like "Gate A1D7G"Thanks,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Actually, the gate naming is very specific on what you may call a gate and we are limited to merely the word "Gate" or we can choose anything between "Gate A" to "Gate Z" ... then of course we can append a number to it which is limited to the highest number being 511. Therefore, you could not call a gate "Gate A1D7G" but are limited to calling it something like "Gate A 1" through "Gate Z 511"hope that made sense.-j

Yep, poifectly! I forgot what was in the drop down boxes and what I typed in. Now I see that it's only the number I type in, and everything else is "predetermined".Too bad, I wanted to name a gate A1D7G just to hear the controller say it... :)Thanks,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
