Need a TrafficBuilder SDK guru for help please.

Recommended Posts

Hey there. So far writing the neccessary custom airport,aircrafttypes and routes dat files has been easy. The SDK has minimum safe altitudes. How can this be changed?for W92 to KGAI the SDK reports cant achieve minimum safe altitude.This cant be right becPeteHere is my airports text:If there is supposed to be a minus sign I am not sure. As the calculator on the web that gave me the decimal figures did not allow minus signKGAI,39.169444444444444,63.17666666666667,162.7632{ RUNWAY,4195,75,HARD PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,37.0,RAMP PARKING,59.1,RAMP PARKING,59.1,RAMP PARKING,32.8,RAMP PARKING,32.8,RAMP PARKING,45.0,RAMP PARKING,45.0,RAMP}W92,38.82666666666667,78.77305555555556,383.7432{ RUNWAY,2240,75,HARD PARKING,33.0,RAMP PARKING,33.0,RAMP PARKING,33.0,RAMP PARKING,33.0,RAMP PARKING,33.0,RAMP PARKING,33.0,RAMP }

I haven't been using TrafficDatabaseBuilder very much but I think I can answer your last question: It would seem a little odd if 747s were making 100 nm legs all the time, wouldn't it?MartinIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

Hmm, I forgot what I wrote? before the edit above. 100 mile legs? Anyway I fixed my problem with not having a valid airport to land to and not finding the aircraft type.Burt now I have a new problem and thats posted in my edited post.The altitude of W92 is 1259feet. I changed it to meters as is required.I get error:myroutes.dat(17) Aircraft unable to reach minimum safe altitude (FL182) for route W92->KGAIIn the aircraftType file I changed the minimum altitude to 030(3000)and still I get this error. I have no idea what the "17" is supposed to mean. I only have seven entries in my routes.dat file

>Hmm, I forgot what I wrote? before the edit above. 100 mile >legs? Well, uh, your original post is right above in the thread... Anyway, you asked why there's a minimum range for the aircraft in TrafficDatabaseBuilder, and I answered that it would be weird to have 747s flying 100 mile flights, and thus you have a 500 nm (or whatever it is) "minimum range" so you will not see a 747 on shorter routes.MartinIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

>What aircraft type do you use in this leg? below is a short list I made. Below is my routes text. Each route uses Cessnas except 1. Of all the Cessnas, only two models can go as high a 18000ft. The one I am using only goes to 18100ft. The mountain range between the two aiports barely reaches 5000ft. If that. I know the SDK says it uses a course grid but 18200 feet minimum in this areas?I'll try to enter what great circle route at a time to see if I can jusat narrow the problwm downSo far, all I know is that the trouble is on the return trip. "The mountain range between the two aiports barely reaches 5000ft. If that. I know the SDK says it uses a course grid but 18200 feet minimum in this areas?"There is no chance that what you are alluding to is what is happening.The SDK does not have a clue as to the mountain ranges and ground heights below the aircraft. It has no means to check that. In fact, you can run the SDK compiler in a computer where FS is not even... installed. And trust me, there is no ground height information whatsoever included in the SDK package.Stamatis

And trust >me, there is no ground height information whatsoever >included in the SDK package. >>Stamatis Well the SDK does say that it sets a "safe altitude" for all the airplanes. It does this by way of a course grid and if it cannot obtain that safe altitude then it will correct for it or abort it.Anyway I found out what was going on my coordinates were not correct.The decimal value was but I did not know that South and West decimals have a negative value. So to solve it. I went to the terraserver home page, entered the LAT/LON and the decimal equivalant is displayed in the status bar befor the picture loads. Now, both W92 and KGAI have AI traffic. I did exlude my routes as that completely obliterates any unrouted (by me) AI Traffic. Auto Route is way better. Thanks guys
