Yroute

Featured Replies

Hi, I just installed "Yroute" and the author does not give step by step insructions on how to use it. It looks like good program when one learns to run it. Can someone who is familiar with "Yroute" tell me exactly how to use this program? I would appreciate so very much. Thank you, S.

yRoute is very intuitive, logical and simple to use. Load up a flightplan file. Look at the flightplans of that file, then edit or add as you please. Save it, recompile it, and run FS.The upper left window shows all the flightplans within that file that you have chosen for display either by listing all or listing those that fit a certain criteria. The lower left window shows all the legs of the highlighted flightplan. If you select a flightplan for editing, it pops up on a new window and you can edit and add legs individually. The right side of the main screen contains functions that define search criterias for flightplans to display. All the buttons do exactly as they are labeled. I don't think this program really needs much of a manual since everything is wysiwyg. All the info you need to get started is contained in the readme.

When I wrote the program I had in mind folk who'd been editing the flightplans.txt and aircraft.txt by hand, which is why I figured a manual might not be necessary. However, there are quite a few knobs, buttons and controls in the latest version, and perhaps not all of them are completely obvious. If I get a chance I'll do up an HTML readme of some kind, since there's nothing worse than having a fairly useful program without any idea how to drive it.CheersSimon

Bless you Simon! I could use that readme your planning to make. :-zhelp

Simon,First off thanks for the GREAT program. I have one question though; why can I delete some legs or flights and not others?Thanks,Paulhttp://www.advdigitalmedia.com/sig3.gif

If so, it might be because the program is showing a whole bunch of legs from a variety of flights (e.g. on the timetable) in which case it won't allow you to delete one - the timetable shows calculated legs which aren't even in the flight plan (repeat legs).I don't know of any other reason, unless it's a bug.CheersSimon
