Do overlays affect frame rates?

Seems like a silly question,I know...but I haven't seen it addressed anywhere. I've seen it said that less is more, is this what they're referring to? Chuck Slusarczyk

I don't think the overlays themselves affect frame rates, but the fact that you have a lot more AI aircraft moving around might, especially if you're not using framerate-friendly aircraft for AI.Matt
