Re-installing scenery question...

Featured Replies

Hi,I am currently having problems with FS2002 and want to de-install and re-install the current sceneries from the CD. If I choose to uninstall FS2002, it seems it does not give me an option for just uninstalling the sceneries. I don't wan't to go ahaed and press OK before making sure it does give me the option later to just uninstall the sceneries and does not uninstall the whole game. I know this is basic stuff, but I have not had to mess with this before, so I am green on this. All my troubles started when I uploaded some 3rd part scenery from another site. I beleive it has to do with AFCAD. Any help would be appreciated, regards,Max

First, see my reply in your other post.Second, the uninstall/install for FS2002 is an all or nothing installation. You cannot just install scenery files. If you must reinstall, copy your fs2002 folder and rename the copy fs2002OLD. Uninstall fs2002 using the control panel, add/remove programs menu. Using Windows Explorer, delete the residual fs2002 folder (NOT the fs2002OLD folder). If necessary, diskscan and defragment your hardrive. Reinstall fs2002 to the same location. Start fs2002 and let it stabilize, then check that is is operating properly. Exit fs2002.You now have a default copy of fs2002 on your hardrive plus the old installation. You have several choices:1. Delete the fs2002OLD folder entirely.2. Slowly copy addon updates from fs2002OLD to the new fs2002 folder. When problems start, remove those updates you just added. Once you have added everything from fs2002OLD, delete fs2002OLD.
