How could I add an airport (present in the fs2002 "goto" list) to the AFCAD editable airports or in other terms, how could I add an airport to the navaids list?TIA

I am somewhat confused about your request. However, I think you are talking about two different things to accomplish. If you want to modify an existing default airport AFD File, you need to download and install afcad140.zip. The readme file is quite extensive. Changes to this file will make changes to the Go to... menu selection. If you want to add a NAVAID, i.e., VOR, ILS, etc. that is tuneable with the NAV radios, you need to use a Scenery Design Program, such as, FSSC http://www.fssc.avsim.net/ , Airport for Windows http://www.airportforwindows.com/ , EasyNavs http://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/index.html .

This is the problem: I've added some small freeware airports to my fs2002, all of them are visible in the "goto airport" menu but some are not visible in the approach, traffic... menus of the ATC when I approach to them. I noticed that the ones (i.e. AL08.BGL) controlled by the ATC have a file called AL08_AFD.BGL in their scenery directory, the ones not present in the ATC menus don't have this "_AFD.BGL" file. So, the question is: which is the smarter tool to create AFD files for existing aiports? Thanks

First, the AL08_AFD.BGL file should really be in your fs2002scenedbAFDFILESScenery folder with all the other AFD files. However, as you have found, it will work in any scenery folder. I don't know as if AFCAD would look for it in any of the scenery folders. The _AFD.BGL files are made with a scenery design program, such as Airport for Windows or FSSC. These files contain the information required to view the airport in the Go to Menu plus provide taxiway directions (progressive taxiway line) and gates for AI and the player. If an airport already exists in the default fs2002, it is better to use AFCAD to make changes to the existing *.bgl, if one exists. If you add another AFD *.bgl for the same airport you can cause problems with duplicate airports in the Go to Menu, and confusion over taxiway directions and gates. If an airport doesn't exist in the default fs2002 database, then use one of the scenery programs to make the AFD *.bgl.
