Can Default AI be replaced by Real Skins?

Featured Replies

Hi,I really know nothing about AI, and, given that:1. my computers come to a screeching halt when I add AI, and,2. My addiction to FS is bad enough without getting involved in the thousands and thousands of repaints and AFCADs out there;I'm not super interested in getting into the details at the moment (maybe later as my computers improve).Anyway - I have gotten involved with loading FS on other people's computers (usually low end), and once in a while I would like to turn it on just to see what it's like even if I end up with a slide show. So that I can get a base understanding and perhaps something a little useful I have the following question:FS comes with default AI files for ficticious airlines. There are lots of skins and now new ones coming out daily for FSX to give the default aircraft repaints of real airlines. Is it possible to replace the default AI with these real repaints, and have ATC call out their real names, using the default AI traffic file as the basis for the traffic (so I don't have to download a ton of AFCADs and figure out what traffic files go with what how)?Would it require that I edit all the airport parking spots anyway, since I imagine they call out Orbit, ...? Or is there some way of tricking FS into thinking that American means Orbit, etc.?Thanks! Ok, I found the following thread from 2003. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=5618&mode=fullDo these methods still work for FSX? I guess I find the editing of the aircraft.cfg files the easiest way to go. But if I do this, will the aircraft be called by their ATC name (IOW, by Delta flight number xxx, instead of Orbit)?, and will they park appropriately, IOW, if assign Delta to Orbit's 737, will Delta now park where Orbit used to? Guess I'll test and let you know. Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

As all you AI'ers know, but in case anyone else is wondering, Using the title of the default aircraft of airlines for the repaints does replace those aircraft, and ATC uses the correct airline name.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180
