VFR touch and go - military

Featured Replies

Hello!I'm trying to make some military AI do VFR touch and go's at KNFL. I have no problems at all with most of the AI aircraft I'm using (AI F-16 by Henry Tomkiewicz, several MAIW AI aircraft), but I can't get it done for the F/A-18 Hornet. Both the Hiroaki Kubota and the Team FS KBT Hornets (light versions) refuse to do VFR pattern work! They taxi and take off as expected, but then they fly straight to the horizon. Normal AI flights seem to work just fine for these models as they land and taxi to a parking spot when I don't put TNG in front of the arrival time.Anyone who can help me out here?Regards,David Bernard

Some fast military aircraft just can't do it. I don't know why; some guess it might be because they are too fast and get ahead of the ATC system. If you know how to replace the flight dynamics (the AIR file (and perhaps the aircraft.cfg file), you could copy the FD from a plane that makes TNG's OK (with similar performance) into those that don't.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Tom is correct. Some aircraft are just too fast. Some flyable models just don't do well as AI.I've spent many hours following AI aircraft as a beta tester for MAIW and have seen many strange things. The method of which you use to 'follow' the aircraft can cause them to act strangly. If you follow too close or are in the wrong position an AI aircraft can and will sometimes just keep going on into the sunset. Using Traffic View Board or Control Tower can cause this. I've even had AI specific aircraft act weird when I followed closely with a flyable aircraft. My opinion would be to use the FS map that comes with the SDK. I find that I get less strange behaviour when using this in conjunction with TVB and CT.KJ
