Hello allI have a problem with FlyGraphics. After extractig the files from an aircraft pod-file toa DATAART polder with Podview , I try to open and see the tif fileswith FlyGraphicsV1.0When I select the tif file FlyGraphics freezes.I have to ctrl-alt-del to get the machine alive again. So I can`t see and convert these files.Only the tif files give this problem the others can be opened and converted without any problem. What do I do wrong?????GreetzLeen de JagerEHRD

What are you selecting the TIF file for? When you unpod an aircraft pod file using a program like PodExplorer, all the basic files are then exposed in the ART, DATA, MODELS, and WORLD folders as you know. The TIF files need no further conversion, nor is FLYGrapics needed for them. The TIF files are available after the unpodding to open directly using a graphics program like Photoshop or Paintshop. FLYGraphics is mainly used to convert and reconvert files with extensions like BMP, TGA, PBM, and ACT. For example, if you wanted to change the eastern view out of the cockpit of the aircraft's wing, you would need to identify whick *.PBM file that is, then use FLYGraphics to convert it to a BMP or TGA file so you can then edit it with your graphics program. Once the editing is done with you graphics program to alter the artwork in the view file, then use FLYgraphics again to reconvert the BMP or TGA file back to a PBM with its accompanying ACT files so that that it will function again in the program when repodded. Hope this is helpful.Grant

Hi Grant , thanks for your helpI understand what you are telling me.Still the question remains why FlyGraphic crashes when an tif file isselected. Why do I want to see and convert a tif file with FlyGraphics? The reason is:I do not have a graphics program able to handle this kind of tif files.Converting them with FlyGraphics to jpg or bmp ( wich my graphics-program can handle ) and converting them back with FlyGraphics to the right kind of tif files again seemed a working solution for me.I am doing all my simming and modifying on the PC in my office, wich is in the same building as my home. All the software on this computer MUST be legal.Buying a legal copy of a suitable graphics-programm is very expensive. Now you know whats the reason of trying things this way.Any suggestions?GreetzLeen de JagerEHRD:-beerchug

Hi Leen (sorry if I did not get your name right)I apologize for not exactly understanding your problem. As you might guess, I have not run into this problem because I use Photoshop to open the TIFs. So I cannot help you with this problem, perhaps Elrond can since he wrote FLYGraphics.Actually I use Photoshop Elements, only $70 U.S., academic price $45 U.S. Has every feature I need without the professional cost and unnecessary capabilities of the full Photoshop version. It can handle most all graphic files.Best wishesGrant

Thanks guys for your advise.I tried to convert tif to gif with Irfanview because my graphics program was able of handling gif files. In this action the graphics lose their tranparancy and cocpitwindows turned black.Just a few minutes ago my son ( our IT-specialist )installed a veryhandy graphics-program called The Gimp. This program is free(GPL) and handles all the files perfectly.I think this is the end of my problem.Doing a repaint is my next challenge , never done it before ,who knows ??Have a cheerfull weekendgreetzLeen de JagerEHRD:-beerchug
