G'day all'I just saw a clip ( from LA I think ) on the news tonight;John Travolta, a self confessed aeroplane geek : roving Ambassador for QANTASWhat a job, flying around the world just promoting Qantas; and what an aircraft. The V jet on the fin is Not "vee" jet but the Greek letter "Fan" jetfor the P&W JT3D fan bypass engines. (high tech stuff back in the 1960's). Oh and he nearly got it right :-) " Queensland And Northern Territory Aerial Services "Cheers,Roger @YSSY

G`day Roger,I saw it on our 6pm news, seems Mr.Travolta has a QANTAS fetish - he loves the airline, and who could blame him :) .I think he is making his way down to NZ in July as part of the 10 nation tour.Kind RegardsAndy

G'day Guys,Yes, Travolta is nuts about airplanes. He's also an accomplished pilot and owns his own Gulfstream III, and has several thousand hours logged. All that travel, I guess.A couple years ago, I saw a television biography of him. Flying is a big enough part of his life that they devoted an entire segment to his passion for it, and got him and his wife to talk about the time when they were flying cross-country with the kids aboard (GIII -- The Ultimate Mini-van) and he lost all electrical power. He ended up contacting approach on a hand-held radio and got the plane down safely. He was very humble about it, but Kelly Preston, his wife, remembered that once they were on the ground, the controller and several other pilots came to congratulate him on his great flying...and were surprised to find out who he was!
