Looking for free paint programs that uses the tif formatI already have paint shop 3.1, adobe photoshop trail version, and gimp Also how do you get to the rgb in those programs thanks, Jeff.

I would think The Gimp is all you need. Just my thought!

HiI tried The Gimp for repainting purposes and it did`nt work. With the right add-on`s THe Gimp is able to open the tif files used inFly2 , but after altering these files ,the saving of these files giveproblems. The kind of Tif-format The Gimp uses at saving is NOT suitable for Fly.When you want to change the color index-table ( the O index field)witht BMP fles The Gimp doesn`t work either.I think the best program to be used is Paint Shop Pro.It is PAYWARE,I am sorry to say, but it really WORKS.LeenEHRD

Hi JeffThe outside of a plane is stored in a tif-file.It is a drawing sized 1024x1024 and indexed to 256 colors.Just opening and repainting the file will do sometimeswithout going to RGB.When you go to RGB there will be more possibillities inthe artwork.BUT do not go back to indexed before you are finished with the drawing.Every time you index the drawing the quality goes back. There is ONE IMPORTANT THING: !!!!!It is (even in Paint Shop Pro)not possible to open the originalTif-flie and use the SAVE AS option. In the SAVE AS process the file gets unuseable.Work like this.Choose the file you want to repaint. e.g. Subcub.tif and make a copyof it.Change the name of the copy to e.g. Myplane.tifAfter repainting this file JUST SAVE IT.I hope it is clear now.If not MAIL [email protected]:-beerchug

JeffThere is a great program from Elrond called FlyGraphics which enables conversion between any of the image files used by Fly!2It's available in AVSIM library.Ben

Hi Jeff and BenGreat program I agree. But keep in mind. This program CAN`T handle the tif-files.Edit these files ( unpodded from the POD )directly withPaint Shop Pro.Do not try to vieuw Tif files with Fly Graphics your computer will freeze probably.Leen
