Fly!2 flips back to desktop

Recommended Posts

I'm having a troubling problem where after executing Fly!2, the screen goes black and then flips back to the desktop. Fly!2 does not crash or give an error, but when I click on the running process in the taskbar, it goes black and then flips again to the desktop. I can sometimes resolve the problem by rebooting, but not always. It seems to be hit and miss for me when trying to run it. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Here is my configuration:Dell Dimension 8100P4 1.3ghz, 512MB RamgeForce3 ti200 w/ 128 MB RamnVidia 4.72 driversWindows XP Professional patched to SP1Anyone who has had this problem or can share some advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a monitoring program, but your advice about an application w/ screen activity might help me solve the issue. I do have other things running like: Norton Internet Security, Norton Antivirus, Trillian (instant messenger), and a few others. None of these seem like they would cause the problem. Anyone have an idea of how to force fly to stay up, in spite of any programs that might be competing? Would it have to do w/ my upgrading the video driver to nVidia's Detonator 4.72? Are there any video card settings that would contribute to the problem? Its a real mystery to me and is quite frustrating.

For anyone curious, my problem seems to have stemmed from my installation of StyleXP, a program that changes the look and feel of WindowsXP. I got around it by going into the options for StyleXP and making sure that "use no system resources" was checked. I believe this was my problem, although I fear that what I was experiencing was random. If anyone else has StyleXP, I'd be interested to know if you've had problems.

I also have this problem from time to time, and not just with FlyII. Now and again it happens with FS2002 as well. My operating system is windows me?I havent got a clue what causes it, as I have shut down all other programs running in the background with ctrl, alt, del. But it still happens from time to time?I also would love to know what causes it?GREMLINS? ;-)
