What's wrong with DX 8/DX 8 TNL rendering?

Featured Replies

Hello all,If this issue was covered elsewhere, my apologies for the repeat, but I didn't see it addressed in the FAQ.I just picked up FLY II yesterday. Patched it up to the latest patch 2.5.240.I'm running Win XP Home w/SP1, a P3-933 processor, 512 MBs of RAM, and a Radeon 9500 pro card with the most recent ATI drivers. If I select DX 8 or DX 8TNL when FLY II launches, my display looks like a bad acid trip -- textures tearing and flashing and mouse cursor tracers. Using the DX 7 option works, but obviously I'd like to take advantage of DX 8 TNL.Is there a workaround to this? Or am I stuck with the DX 7 renderer?Much thanks.Scott

Scott,First of all, go with DirectX 8.1 and check the render.ini file - make sure this line is set as indicated: vertexIndexFormat=0If it is and/or setting it there does not resolve your problem, then turn off T&L and see if things improve. There have been problems reported with ATI drivers. If the above items don't help, then post for anyone running with ATI drivers and see which version they're using. You may need to revert to earlier drivers to get satisfaction.

Much thanks, that adjustment in the render.ini file did the trick.Scott
