How do you move this pesky little critter?

Steve,You have to edit your fly.ini file.Search for the entry loadDefaultSceneryModels under the SIM section and change it to =1. Most likely yours is set as =3Although I can't exactly remember what the different options meant, I tried it myself and it worked.Take care,Alejandro AmigorenaCheshire, CTFly! Fantastic! You have made my day - Well night here in the UK its 02:20 HrsWell past my bedtime ;-) Many thanks, Steve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.JPG

What does this flag do to other "default" objects, such as VOR's or other radio towers? Also, what about default airport models (like at KSFO)?-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v41.09, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.

Thats what I was wondering but everything else seems to be there.I didnt go to KSFO but went to Paris and everything was fine. I landed with autopilot.Kind regards, Steve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.JPGSceneryhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2tms&Go=SearchRepaintshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2Air&Go=SearchOther fileshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...2Misc&Go=Search

David,The SFO buildings are still there. I tried searching all over the place because I know that I once saw this explained somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I even tried the old forums but no luck. I went to flydevelopers looking for the fly.ini explained but there was nothing there either.I can't remember how it worked but I think the options were something like this: 0 = no models, 1 = no beacon towers anywhere, 2 = no beacon towers only in the US and 3 = beacon towers everywhere. Again, I don't know where I read this and I don't know if the options stated above are even correct.Wasn't there a full explanation of the fly.ini file somewhere?Take care,Alejandro AmigorenaCheshire, CTFly! SteveThe other way to move these towers is to change the coordinates for the centre of the airfield. If you're working on Norwich then I've got some files you might find useful. Just never had the chance to finish it all off. Let me know.RegardsAndrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH

Hi AndrewYip Im doing Norwich, I have already started it as well as completed the taxiways. One thing tho' I have found very few pictures on the net. So few they are not telling me much. Can you lead me in the right direction if you know of any good piccies!Kind regards, Steve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.JPGUnited Kingdom Sceneryhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2tms&Go=SearchRepaintshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2Air&Go=SearchOther fileshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...2Misc&Go=Search

Im working on a new tiff of a default hangar with rust on it. Here are the GA hangars at Norwich. Sorry I dont know what they really look like.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.JPGUnited Kingdom Sceneryhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2tms&Go=SearchRepaintshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2Air&Go=SearchOther fileshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...2Misc&Go=Search

SteveI'll post you what I have anyway. Pity you didn't run this past me earlier as I could have saved you the job of doing the taxiways. I do have some database DEX files that position the runways correctly.I also had no luck finding any pictures on the Internet. Trouble these days is that airport security get very nervous if someone's walking around taking photos. Hey, a thought, maybe I could take a canvas and some paint up there; they couldn't have a problem with that, could they? :-)I will take another look for sources this weekend.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH

From my old notes:For loadDefaultSceneryModels= in the Fly.iniSet =0 to disable, =1 to enable radio towers only, =2 to enable airport beacons only, or =3 to enable both radio towers and airport beacons. Also this: Two ways:1. Create and place a new tower from the scenery editor and the beacon goes away. Place a new beacon where you want it.2. Unpod the original models pod and should then be able to move existing beacons and towers. The above is from a thread in the old forums. Search on the subject "Runway obstacle" Don

Well I found that the GA hangars are a red colour so I changed the default blue to red :-) Thanks for that info Don. Do you know if this is the same when you add a tower with TM 2.2?Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.JPGUnited Kingdom Sceneryhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2tms&Go=SearchRepaintshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2Air&Go=SearchOther fileshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...2Misc&Go=Search

Don,Thanks, I know I had read it somewhere. Didn't know about the second part...It's always good to have a librarian in the family... ;-)Take care,Alejandro AmigorenaCheshire, CTFly!
