One can modify existing panel for fun.....

Featured Replies

I started playing with the existing panels, the hawker for example, and realized that they can be touched up for more realistic looking cockpits. Shading, new colors and other non-function critical items are all candidates. I am not good with painting, but a little patience and perceverance yield some interesting results. With shading and lighting, the cockpits can be customized for different aircrafts. The window center post in the pic is the one I've made for the erj-145, a wonderful plane that comes with the FLY2 default panel. Notice the worn look and the rounded edges on the main panel. These are not finished, but show the potential. So get some paint and make new panels, without,of course, the learning curve of having to code all the gauges. Please be aware that these panels are not mine, and proper credit goes to their designers. I am simply touching them up for my own pleasure. If there's enough interest, I would ask the author's permission before uploading them. tony

Hi Tony,These parts look more realistic now indeed.I did some changes on the Staggerwing panel.Changed the radio console, added the center-post and changed the position of the compass. It`s great fun doing this. Great work leen, now your moving from body repaints to panel repaints.chrisrpll

Hi Chris,It`s not only repainting. The original(Stearman) compass has been replaced by the Cessna 172 compass-gauge and it became a new position. So,this is more than repainting lets call it re-creation.Complicated but fun.RegardsLeen

Hi ChrisLeen & a few other of the aircraft repainters have been doing this kind of work for quite a while. Its a lot of work and these guys are doing a wonderful job.Cheers to you all :-) Steve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.jpg][/divTHERE'S A BIG WAVE COMING!Whats New!http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/fly2theuk/whatsnew.htmMy United Kingdom Scenery.http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+Viewhttp://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/avsim/bart.htm
