Not able to connect with USGS through TerraScene2.1...

Featured Replies

Hi. Has anyone else been experiencing problems lately (as of Sat.,Jan.17,2004) while attempting to render a scenery tile with TerraScene 2.1? As the program connects to download data from it's sources such as USGS etc., it repeatedly fails, stating connection failed=java.net.Is this a problem possibly with my own configuration or is perhapsthe site location off-line? Maybe something else?Anyone with any ideas, I'd sure be much obliged. Thanks, dall1w

Hi,I'm having the same problem too.Any Idea.chris_ca

Has it been awhile since you rendered scenery? I sure hope so! Have 4 tiles left for my Florida project!! A couple of months ago there was a change and someone made a fix for it, it's in the file library.JamesHmmm... Tastes Like Chicken!

James et al,I am unaware of any change for which there was a fix. I know there were some changes for TerraModels in order to handle a temporary relocation of the TerraServer. I last rendered scenery with TS in December with no changes and with no difficulties.Concerned about this thread, I went to the USGS and checked out the data site - though the shell of the Geographic Data Download page remains, none of the links work and all of the data is gone!. Either the USGS has moved this data or it has been removed from public access - needless to say, this sucks!!I will start a new thread so that people can be aware of the problem - I have already sent a message to the EDC Web Master asking for clarification/information.
