November 6, 200421 yr Hi guys, Im pleased to let you know I have nearly completed a tutorial on how to make a Tree with 3DS Max and Photoshop. You can follow along with me on every move with your mouse, creating the model, importing into Fly2 and making the unwanted bits vanish. If I had any secrets all will be revealed :-eek This method then can be used to the full with making people, bridges, towers ... sheep?? Sheep? anyway check out the F2FDesign website soon. The tutorial is in PDF format. After that I will make a building tutorial ;-) http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/96678.jpg SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.wrexhamspace.org/Steves%20Card.jpg

November 7, 200421 yr No problem Chris.Once you know the basics of adding the textures and some of the basic tools, you will soon be adding models of your own :-) Then you can master the harder models like planes ;-) SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.wrexhamspace.org/Steves%20Card.jpg
November 7, 200421 yr I am getting suspicious, STeve. I'll never finish my Electra if you seduce me int making models..;-)tony
November 7, 200421 yr I know many of you guys can make models out there, but many just dont know how. Not so long ago I was one of them :-) But soon all those who have the software can make a tree set like this in 30mins... or less.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/96784.jpg I mixed a few clumps of trees together using 60ft and 90ft models. The textures are 64X64 low res, instead of the heavy 125X125 sized tiff. As you can see, with a good texture they look like a hi res tiff like the 125X125. Though go much closer and you can realy tell the difference. But I think the effect is perfect for Autogen.SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.wrexhamspace.org/Steves%20Card.jpg
November 7, 200421 yr Thanks Mate now go and download them and have fun.www.wrexhamspace.org/steve_tree1.zip Cheers SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.wrexhamspace.org/Steves%20Card.jpg
November 8, 200421 yr Steve, I alwys get lost with placement of scenery models. Am I to assume that the db and the mlf files go into the data, while the smf in the model folder? tony
November 8, 200421 yr Hi TonyWhen You open up the zip file you have 3 folders...ArtDataModelsOpen the art folder and place the tiff files in your Fly2/art folder.Open the Data folder and place the Autogen mlf file in the Fly2 Data folder.Open the Models folder and place the SMF files in your Fly2 models folder.I hope this helpsSteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.wrexhamspace.org/Steves%20Card.jpg
November 8, 200421 yr Steve, I have a bad habit of opening a zip file and then moving them into their various folders. Of course, I fail to see whether they have already their pathsfolders, since the zip window gives me enough room to view only the files. I should get into the habit of unzipping into a generic folder. In this case I would have seen the three folders. Sorry, but thanks for the quick response. As for the Electra, I need to clean up a few more textures as well as move some guages to their proper location before I could call it an Alpha release. When I get close, you'll be among the first to test fly it. It flyes quite well, with the heavy feel of a vintage twin.tony
November 8, 200421 yr Steve, I am flying around the LSFO area. Where is the best place to see your new trees? I am having difficulty identifying them anywhere.tony
November 8, 200421 yr Sorry these are for placement with the built in editor, Laurent is making the magic to put them in autogen.SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.wrexhamspace.org/Steves%20Card.jpg
