G'day Steve,The opacity problems with the trees has been around since the year dot. I actually thought that there may have been a solution or work around to cure the problem, but not sure. Have you done a search of the forums?Cheers,Roger

Hi SteveUsing the Z-Buffer flag ( I think it was introduced with one of the patches) when positioning the tree makes things better but not perfect. (because it works only with 2 objects and not with 2 different parts of one tree). It works with fly editor, I never tried autogen.Harald

Hi SteveUse B (in Upper Case) in the MLF-File to put this flag on.Works only, if tree #1 is hidden by tree #2.If a part of tree #1 hides another part of tree #1, you still get those crazy effect.I hope this helpsHaraldPart of the Fly-documentation about this flags:// Flags (case sensitive; lower case means flag is OFF; upper case is ON):// C = complex (scenery level)// G = snap to ground// H = distance hiding// L = force night lights (only needed for structures less than 100' tall)// N = normal (scenery level)// S = sparse (scenery level)// T = object considered a Tower for Tower-Cam// U = sink model underground by 8' (for office buildings/sidewalks)// Only necessary for objects with opacity maps that "bleed through" other models// B = Z-sorted (back to front) optionally, add a tag inside the definition in your scenery file to activate this feature// Support for non-Zbuffered model objects, Objects should be flat, and placed on a perfectly flat surface (designed for markings/striping)// X = no collisions// Z = no z-buffer Optionally, add a tag inside the definition in your scenery file to activate this feature

Thankyou very much Harald for this explanation. Now I know what to do.I wonder if you can help just a little more ;-) I used your tutorial on how to flatten an airport. But, when I add the co ordinates in the editor, like you show in the picture, Liverpool Airport never shows up in flattenator? Is this me, doing something wrong, or is there a problem here?If you have the time, :-) grovel... could you try to flatten Liverpool Airport for me to see. PS If you do it could you send me the files :-lol Im off ;-) A naughty and cheaky SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orgF2FDesign Websitehttp://www.f2fdesign.com/ My Fileshttp://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View http://www.wrexhamspace.org/sig.jpg

Hi SteveI flatten my areas by hand editing the TRN-Files. This enables me to add high detail grids if necessary.Yes I will do it, but it will take about 2 weeks, because my vacation finished today.:( Do you use the original mesh ?Can I download your new scenery already at AVSIM (to try if flatten works) ?Harald

Harald you are a gentleman :-) Yes Im using the original mesh, but I have Paul Brookes scenery installed (Satelite pictures placed on ground) but Im sure it just uses the default mesh as a base? You can download Liverpool EGGP V3 here... http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=35524 But this will be updated soon by my new scenery.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/103031.jpg Liverpool EGGP V4 (Above picture)And Liverpool EGGP Full VFR for those who want the City buildings too. I can replace the buildings very easily as you know if you do the flattening for me. 2 weeks or so is just fine :-eek I cant thank you enough Harald, Steve. Hi SteveGround textures and elevation data are in the same File (Gxx.TRN). In Liverpool this file has the name G11.TRN in the subdirectory DATAD253172So you can't have this file 2 Times. This means, If you want to keep you Paul Brooks scenery you have to manually edit the file DATAD253172G11.TRN that came with this scenery. Be careful to edit really this file, because there may be more G11.TRN files in different subfolders.I recommend to read the FLY!II terrain file tutorial by Nick Curcio. It is not necessary to read this tutorial for editing (only if you want to know why you have to change exactly this numbers in this special file)1.) Open DATAD253172G11.TRN with Windows notepad (not WINWORD).2.) Find the entry -- super tile 7 4 ========== BEGIN OBJECT ==========(There are 64 -entries from 0 0 to 7 7, you need 7 4)3.) scroll down to the entry (approx. 40 lines below the "super tile" entry) -- alt (MSL) for each vertex 0. 65.616798400878906 65.616798400878906 65.616798400878906 65.616798400878906 6.5616798400878906 65.616798400878906* 65.616798400878906* 65.616798400878906* 3.28083992004394534.) Change the 7th to 9th line (I marked them with*) as shown above. They should contain the same elevation number (in feet) as in the 2nd to 5th line).I do not have Paul Brooks scenery, so if it comes in a POD, here is how to unpod/pod this file:1. unpod the File DATAD253172G11.TRN using the following procedure1a. Create a new Folder called c:POD1b. Unpod now Paul Brooks scenery in this folder using "PODVIEW" from ROTW. Select all files with CTRL-A, use c:pod as destination directory and don't forget to select the "Recreate directory structure" Checkbox.1c. edit the file c:PODDATAD253172G11.TRN as described above1d. Start "DRAGPODER" from ROTW1e. Drag the folder POD over the Window of Dragpoder1f. Name the new Pod like the old one and press "Gener le Pod". When the line "Avancement" has turned completely blue, press "Fermer"1g. Replace the old pod with this new .podHaraldWithout this scenery you can use the attached G11.TRN-File

Harald I cant thankyou enough! :-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy I have uninstalled Pauls scenery for now, and added your file.It Works a treat. I can now taxi to the GA hold without taxi lights showing up above my head. I can also see the taxiway leading to the GA hold from inside the Cessna for the first time. That sinking feeling has gone. :-lol In the next few days I will see if I can do the same with Pauls scenery.Thankyou my friend, steve. My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orgF2FDesign Websitehttp://www.f2fdesign.com/ My Fileshttp://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View http://www.wrexhamspace.org/sig.jpg
