September 4, 200223 yr Hi there.Im getting a new video card this month & I was wondering if I have to re-install FlyII?Or do I have to do something to my ini. settings.Im upgrading from a 16 meg card to a 32 meg. Many thanksSteve :-bat
September 4, 200223 yr Steve,No need to reinstall Fly!II. If the card you're getting is a GeForce type, be sure to download the latest drivers from nVidia and run their install. You'll want to reset the graphics settings in Fly! to match your new card - resolution, memory, etc. Some things to watch out for:1. If you installed the 230 patch, it came with updated video drivers (tri*.dlls) that were only for GeForce type cards. If you set those drivers aside and overwote them with the older versions so you could run Fly!II (Patch 230) with a non-GeForce card, you'll need to put the newer versions back in to get the best results with a GeForce card.2. If you didn't save the new drivers when you did this, then you'll need to rerun the 230 patch to get those drivers in.3. You may want to adjust your render.ini settings to take advantage of the increased memory. Randall Rocke
September 4, 200223 yr Many thanks Randall for your help here.In step 3, to adjust my render .ini settings, do I use mem calc? as Im not sure how to figure out what the settings would be?Thankyou once again ;)Stevie :-bat
September 4, 200223 yr Stevie,I'd start with the original render.ini (if you still have a copy) and go from there. Using something like MemCalc is a good idea for tweaking to squeeze out a little more performance or imagery (or guard against some problems people have experienced when using the 999 variable).
