Help with 3d max

Featured Replies

OK.I've drawn a simple cylinder and exported it with the TRI plug in .Now I get a SModel::load-corrupt error when I load the model in the FLY editor. What is it?I am assuming that initially I don't need to worry about texturing a model. I noticed that in the s3d file, there's no reference to a tga file. I thought that the FLY editor would produce one.tony

G'day Tony,I don't know if it's compulsory; I just assumed it was and added textures to my models before saving. saves and loads into the Fly! editor then with no worries.Your simple cylinder --- did you convert into and editable mesh and create a uv mapping modifier and then apply a texture. I think you would have to do at least that. The Fly! editor I think would expect that much. If the editor is then unable to find the texture then I think it will apply a basic generic texture as a substitute.I have it arranged so the the s3d file and all the textures are in the same folder. The Fly! editor has no problems finding the textures when I load the model. When you save the model out of the editor the textures are saved as a single crammed file in the ART folder. Cheers,Roger @YSSY

thanks, Roger. I guess I need to learn to texture. Would you be so kind to send me a 3d max simple object that has a simple texture, which converts well for you. I mean a simple cube or cylinder? I want to make sure that I can convert it to a s3d file. The wrong errors can make life miserable for us diminishing Flyers.tony
