Using FU terrain textures in FS2k2?

Featured Replies

Is there a way? For those of us that own both, it'd be nice to be able to have the excellent photorealistic terrain textures in FS2k2 instead of the generic tiles.

I don't know much about FS scenery, but if its possible to put your own scenery in from any source, then you can use andr

Very easy to do once you have gathered FU's textures together as well as find the exact Lat and Lon of the extremes, it will work best if you re-assemble all of the textures untill you have one or a few large images in a good paint program like Photoshop or Corels PhotoPaint, then save the image as a 24bit windows BMP and then use TerraBuilder to figure out what exact demmension to resize the image as FS2k2 wants 4.8 meters once complete use TerraBuilder along with the FS2k2 SDK Tools to slice the textures back up and re-name and convert them into the FS2k2 format (DXT1) and create the needed *.BGL file that tells FS2k2 to use the new textures on its Terrain, If you want the FS2k2 landable water effects you will also need to create an Alpha chanel or "water Mask" in your textures by first painting all water as absolute RGB values of 0,0,0 (Black) before conversion. For more Help and Info just pop into the TB forum right here at AVSIM.Take CarePaul
