Joystick assignments

Hans mentioned using a joystick button to activate the thrust reversers on the Beechjet. Can someone explain to me how this is done ?Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Chris,You should have a "joykeys.cfg" file in your flight3 folder to start with (which i do think you have).Open that file with notepad and add the following text:joy_6 Reverse_Thrust (replace the number 6 with the corresponding buttonnumber on your joystick)That should be it! :-)// Daniel

Better still Chris,this line works speedbrakes AND reversers together,( but remember reversers only work when a/c is on the ground!!)very handy for Ansgar's Boeing 747.joy_4 console func Reverse_Thrust && func SpeedBrakesAs before, replace the number with whichever number joystick buttonyou are/wish to use.:-wavePete

Daniel & Pete,Thanks for the help. I now have the thrust reversers assigned to button 1 on my CH Flightstick Pro. I also discovered that button 3 shuts down the engines.........which is nice :-)Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Unfortunately NO, Chris,Looking Glass forgot to program in reversing props in the flight dynamics, I think Daniel tried ( and gave up in the end ) with the KingAir :-(:-wavePete

I put in the line Pete mentions above except I use button 7 for reverser and now airbrakes. It works great on my computer. Thanks, Pete for the code line. I gave you credit in the readme. Allan,Thanks for the tip. I always felt sure there had to be a way to make the trim fuction work continuously but I couldn't find it in any of the documentation. This is much better. Earl, you can also tie multiple functions together, by replacingthe "&&" with "||", first push of a button will do the first listed operation,second push (same button) will do second operation, and so on.Here follows an extract from the 'Readmep.wri' file which comes with the patch needed for Nvidia graphics cards:"You can now bind joytick buttons, joystick hats, and hotkeys to multiple functions using console commands. Pete,Thank you for revealing the "proper" brakes to be used after touchdown. I have been pressing 'b' to activate the brakes, but it appears that this is actually the PARKING brake ! :-) Needless to say, this must be the most effective brake of its type in the history of aviation :-lolThe "toe" brakes (as you call them) seem to work much more realistically. Thanks for the information regarding binding these to a joystick button. I appear to have done this successfully, so now I should have no trouble with advanced training procedures like landing the Beechjet on the back of Ansgar's 747 :-lolChris Low,ENGLAND.

Chris, they're called toe brakes 'cos you operate them with the toe of your rudder foot pedal.In most real aeroplanes,toe brake pressure is modulated DOWN from full sytem pressure, to provide 1) a bit more 'feedback', and 2) to give the crew a chance to correct things if inadvertently, they'vetouched down with the brake pedal depressed (yes, its happened!!).Parking brakes, on the other hand, also double up as emergency brakes,and get unmodulated full system pressure applied, and also,bypass any anti-skid protection too.:-wavePete
