Staggerwing previews...

Tom,Yes, it's amazing how those small details get lost. According to the drawings, the vertical distance between the cowl bottom and the leading edge of the wing is 6" on the D but looks to be about 1.5" on the G (I don't have a factory drawing of the G). I actually had about 9", so that was well-spotted :-wave I tried the 'cut out' idea but BSP didn't like it so I pushed and pulled until I had a decent fillet then ... failure! I then buried the wing-end edges inside the fuse (!!?!) and Voila!** Australian for "bl**dy fantastic, BSP.exe works..." ONLY to be used WHEN it WORKS. At all other times, it is customary to quietly mutter "bugger". Also means much the same in French, although not necessarily related to BSP.exe. ** Another problem I didn't mention; my 'factory drawings' are scans of real ones, and weren't done too accurately. It's quite obvious when taking the scale from one sheet and applying it to another (They're supposed to be all the same scale - 1" = 6") because the 99" prop measures off the drawing at 83"! This required me to re-scale the drawings, based on known dimensions (length, wingspan, height etc). Also, for some reason, the drew it with HUGE wheels, so much for accuracy ;-)ROB!!:-lol :-lol :-lolGlad you enjoyed it :-rollBTW, if you want to do sight-seeing, back-off the throttle after takeoff! Somewhere down around idle (?) it plods around quite happily at ~70kts. Watch sharp turns though - the knife-edge lift is quite poor compared to 2 sets of wings!Looking at your efforts, I'd better get the crash models sorted :-lolRegards,Jon Point

Working on the cockpit now. These are by no means finished, but this is the basic layout. The F3 view is useless for landing and sightseeing but hey - I kept the F2 view open!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158818.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158819.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158820.jpgBTW, there WILL be a compass and a windscreen joint running up the middle ;-) (and a small strut on each side). If I offset the panel for a clearer view, you lose half the instruments :-(I might still do that and move the radios to an 'extra view', like I did with the Twin Otter. Whaddayathink?:-waveRegards,Jon Pointhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158821.gif

Looking good Jon... I'd vote to move the radios to another view and get main view from the left seat :-)

looking good TOO ,I vote to move the radio and leave the panel looking like original in your previous postCaptRolo

Fantastic model!I'm looking forward to trying it out.
