A few problems...

Like most of you, I am delighted with RC3. I was pleased to attend JDs little launch party in Atlanta and have had the program for over a week now. Agree that the controller voices are much less natural than the MSFS ATC, and the volume of the RC3 controllers and chatter cannot be adjusted separately from the master volume, but the overall versatility of RC3 more than compensates for these annoyances. Some users have not been fond of the use of the advdisp.dll utility, but if you have dual display set up, as I do, it is nice to move the window to the secondary monitor and this is a better setup than the translucent window MS ATC uses on the primary screen.I have had two persistent problems:1. Does MSFS ATC really stay on comm2 if RC3 is loaded with just comm2 active? I still get ATIS for MSFS and RC3 talking over each other when I tune ATIS on comm1.2. More serious problem -- when I uncheck the option to autotune the radios so I must tune my radios manually I run into a persistent problem after takeoff -- RC3 will not accept my departure frequency communication even though my radio is tuned to the correct frequency. This does not happen with the auto tune option set.Anyone else had this problem?Rob G

Hi Rob,1. Yes it should. comm2 only active: msatc on comm2, RC on comm 1.You should only hear MS atis if that frequency is tuned on comm2.2. Hmm. I'll try a quick check and get back to you. Are you successfully contacting cd/ground/tower without autotune selected? All the best,John

Hi Rob,2. Just tried it out - working fine here.Just one thought, are you waiting until tower tells you to contact departure before trying to tune departure? If you don't wait for towers instruction you won't be able to contact departure.Hope this helps,All the best,John

"1. Does MSFS ATC really stay on comm2 if RC3 is loaded with just comm2 active? I still get ATIS for MSFS and RC3 talking over each other when I tune ATIS on comm1."I have exactly the same problem. The only way to stop it on my setup is to turn the comm 1 audio off.As for the voices-I also agree-I wonder if the "slowness" is attributed to the program running in visual basic. I had a clearance yesterday that was so slow I thought I'd have to taxi back for fuel. :-) If it is a choice between computer generated voices and the slow human voices I'd take the slow human-but it sure would be nice if they could be speeded up-like the default ms atc. Here is a request for a future feature: I understand the advdisp.dll advantages and disadvantages. I actually would like something in between. I find in my case not only does the display hide instruments I want to get to, but that when a voice is talking key presses seem not to register. It can be difficult to know if there is a lot of chatter if you in fact got the command you want sent.I know for the older version of RC there was a program somewhat like below and I would sure like to see something like it: 1) because I use a fairly big yoke, my keyboard is not very accesable and difficult to use when flying-this allows all functions to be done with a mouse 2) the atc window is only visible when you need itShot #1-the icon that calls atcShot #2-what you get when you press the atc iconShot #3-press the "atc" button and the atc window pops up-press it again and it closes. All menu choices can be clicked with the mouseBill Morad made this wonderful atc gauge-would be great to have one work with Rc.http://members.telocity.com/~geof43/Geofdog2.gif

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Hi Geoff,You are right. The way RC is set up is to use comm 1 whether or not comm 1 is actually set as active. This allows the seperate tuning of MSATC on comm2. So the correct way to set things up is as you say, comm 1 audio off, comm 2 audio on.All the best,John

error -- please ignore this message -- read what follows.

Possible this is the problem -- I'll check it out when I get back home this weekend. ATIS and CD do work normally -- the problem starts at the point that I am asked to contact departure. If it still hangs, it will give an excuse to take a short trip around the neighborhood to try out the sim for yourself (which you are welcome to do anyway)! Thanks,Rob

Regarding the MSFS and ATIS issue -- do you have to have the radio tuned to ATIS or another active MSFS frequency on comm2 when you boot RC3, or is it sufficient to just have comm1 off and comm2 on (or should both be comms be on?)I have not had the comm2 tuned to an active frequency when loading up RC3 and I have had comm1 off.Rob

This explains everything. No need to reply to my other post.Rob
