How to maximise RC3?

Featured Replies

I've just tried the KBNA-KMEM tutorial (#2). An excellent flight. I started FS (in low priority) , then RC3 (in Realtime priority), set things as referred to in the tutorial, then started RC3- and then RC3 minimised itself. This didn't concern me until I came to save the flight. The tutorial mentions maximising RC3 (to save the flight)- but maximising isn't an option (it's "grayed out"). What am I doing wrong?Thanks,Bruce.PS. I'm running WinXP- although I don't think I'm running RC3 in any compatibility mode- as mentioned in the FAQ- but I am using the .bat file referred to here to start the app in "Realtime" priority. Hi Bruce,As you suspect the RC button on the taskbar should be active (I presume it's this which is 'greyed out'. This is something I can't remember seeing.Couple of questions.1. Is the RC button greyed out from the start of the flight?2. Can you bring RC into focus by using alt-tab?3. Does RC respond to keyboard input when the button is greyed out? The keystroke cs; should cause the flight to save automatically.I'm not sure if compatibility mode is relevant here. I run RC on a second machine on XP Home and have no problems. All the best,John

Bruce, You can set your own key combo to save a flight. I think Ctrl + Shift + ; is the default. You only need to bring up RC screen for the save if you want to give it a specific name. What is greyed out? The RC icon on your taskbar? Not sure what you mean by maximising RC. Using the RC icon on my taskbar I can right click it and choose "restore" or simply left click on it. It may take some few seconds to come up depending on the horsepower of your machine. Also, using Alt + Tab when running FSMeteo and RC with flt sim works pretty fast.Best, Rob

When I paused FS (is that what you mean by "pausing RC?"), and clicked on the icon for RC3 in the task bar, it would never pop up into focus. Right clicking it showed no "maximise" option, the "restore" option was grayed out (as it should be when running, I guess- so that's OK?), and the other options "size" and "close Alt-F4" were available. No maximise available.Thanks- and thanks for the info on the key combo, I might try that if I can't resolve the mazimise issue. Does it save to a default name? Thanks,Bruce.

Thanks Bob (and others),Bob- "Restore" is grayed out (and "maximise isn't an option, as I recall), and left clicking on the taskbar does nothing to restore RC- although maybe I'm not waiting long enough? (My machine is a P4-1.8G / 512M PC-2100). Alt-Tab is somethin I had forgotten (takes me back to Win 3.1!). I'll try that too tonight.Thanks- you guys provide great support.Bruce.

Hi Bruce,Do be patient, there is sometimes quite a delay between left clicking on the taskbar button and RC reappearing.Using cs; the file is saved in an alphanumeric format which jd thought up - so each saved file is given a different name.A free one year subscription to this forum to anyone who can decode jd's format (testers are not allowed to enter) ;-)All the best,John
