- why do you call America West for Cactus ??? One more, Air Jylland? The part of Denmark called Jutland is Jylland in danish. I wasn't aware they had their own airline!? :-lol

"Cactus" is the correct ATC call sign for America West. :-waveMichael CollierDispatcherSystem Operations ControlAmerica West Airlines

Lars,I imagine a user wrote saying he wanted "AirWest" (guessing v2). Between then and now we discovered "Cactus" was correct, so everyone recorded it too. Now there's both.Air Jylland - I haven't a clue. Requests come to me in emails, several of which I'd have no idea whether were correct (as in AirWest/Cactus), or even the proper pronounciation. We copy/paste, to ensure our users get exactly what they ask for ;).

Not sure if this answers your question, but I believe it is to reduce the occurance of simmilar sounding calls - American, Ameirca West, etc. Call one Cactus and you reduce the confusion.

Hehehe - thank's for all the answers!! I really didn't know and in RC 2 they said America West... - so i feel i might have an excuse.. :-lol But i can see the logic in it..OK Doug - maybe a radar contact entusiast here in Denmark, who has his own virtual airline.. :-lol

Air Jylland - I haven't a clue.Doubt if anyone else has either, Doug. It's not listed in ICAO Doc8585, "Designators for Aircraft Operating Agencies" and a quick search on Yahoo revealed nothing so it's almost certainly not a r/w airline. PPhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCbeta.jpg
