December 31, 200223 yr As a new user to RC, so far I am very happy with this product. At KSFO, the pre-recorded chatter was specific for that airport and really enhanced the flight. The only problem I am having is with single runway airports (KSAN for example) dealing with A.I. aircraft apparently being cleared for take-off by FSATC just as I am told to taxi into position and hold by RC. this has happened a couple of times already. In Multi-runway airports, I simply request a parallel runway to the FS active. I also choose a parallel or different runway for landings. What should I do about these incursions at KSAN or similar airports. I don't feel having to monitor FSATC is very realistic, and would rather listen to just RC. I realize RC can't control the A.I. craft, but to what extent exactly are they 'seen' by RC?Any help appreciated. Thanks for a great program,John M.
December 31, 200223 yr John,Listening to FSATC is very realistic, especially if you want to know what the AI are doing. However, you can wait until the AI aircraft takes-off before taxiing into position.RC can only see airborne traffic.
December 31, 200223 yr I have found fsatc to be inconsistent in how it "recognizes" my plane when I'm flying with RC. Usually I just get in line with the rest of the air jockeys and wait my turn to take of. If there's a plane behind me, fsatc will wait until I'm off to clear them onto the runway. However, I've also had the experience of having the plane behind me go right through me and take off. Ouch! I think it may have something to do with the collision setting in the aircraft realism menu. It could be that if you have set to detect crashes with other aircraft, the ai aircraft will not ignore you and taxi through you. Maybe someone else can confirm this.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]Horizon Flights--flight plans and scenery for FS2002http://sidneyschwartz.homestead.com/index.html
December 31, 200223 yr Hi Sid,When it's busy I just ask FSATC for takeoff clearance as normal.Once both RC and FSATC allow me to move - I move :-)All the best,John
