September 6, 200520 yr Some time ago John and I posted some of the things to look forward to in RCv4, one of which was Profile Descent. Knowing some base the decision to buy (or not) on enhancements, we thought it only fair to tell you Profile Descent will not be in RCv4.I'll be watching for responses and opinions. Your responses will help us make the go/no-go call for v5.Profile Descents are still being used, though I'm aware of only one (the TYSSN2 into KLAS). It's an RNAV procedure. Please don't come-up-in-arms :-) There are more I'm sure, but not many. The FAA's found, they just don't work and though ZME's not had one since I've been there (1981), as a controller would've been surprised if the program were successful and widely accepted.Speaking to a friend working at Los Angles Enroute Center, I learn KLAX does not use them. KORD friends tell me, they tried them... all trashed. Pete Pittman (our Euro expert) shares my views.Again, I'll explain in detail if needed but suffice to say, we're going to continue to steer RC in a realistic and current-rw direction.FYI - We're in final beta...
September 6, 200520 yr Thanks Doug. I look forward to RCV4 and your decision will not change my decision to purchase. Actually it was never on my list. :)Bob... Bob Prince
