December 17, 200520 yr I read somewhere in your publicity material that you had recorded the names of about 150 airports for use in RC4. What happens therefore when you want to fly into or out of an airport which is not on that list? Do the controllers refer to the airport by its ICAO code, so that they might say, for example, "Monitor EGNT tower on ..." rather than "Monitor Newcastle tower on ..."? Is there a list available of the 150 or so airports whose names you have recorded?Thank you.Martin
December 17, 200520 yr Hi Martin,That's correct, except that generally you'll just be told to monitor tower etc. In a clearance you'd hear something like 'cleared to echo golf november tango airport as filed' etc.I think we ended up with 109 named airports eventually. I don't have a list (someone else probably has) but, if you have RC installed you could check in the folder rcv4scriptcontrollerscripts. Each file named, for example, a_bikf.txt corresponds to a named airport and will contain the name we recorded. In the UK we have, egbb, egcc, eggp, egkk, egll, egpe, egpf, egpt, and egss. I'll bet you can guess which two were 'personal' requests from team members! All the best,John (from near egpt!)
December 17, 200520 yr This is the list (found in a previous thread) of the 109 "lucky" airports (what a pity it's not "user-expandable"!!!):Albany KALBAmsterdam Schiphol EHAMAthens LGAVAtlanta-Hartsfield KATLAuckland NZAABahrain OBBIBaltimore KBWIBangkok VTBDBarcelona LEBLBeijing ZBAABerlin Tegel EDDTBirmingham KBHMBoston Logan KBOSBrisbane YBBNBrussels EBBRBudapest LHBPBuenos Aires SAEZBuffalo KBUFCharlotte Douglas KCLTChicago Midway KMDWChicago O
December 17, 200520 yr Thank you John and Enrico for your swift replies. The airport I was really interested in was my own local airport at Liverpool, which I am very pleased to see is included in the list (though I do hope they will expand the list in the near future ...).Thanks again.Martin
