January 29, 200719 yr I recently purchased RC 4.2.3831 and am really enjoying this program; what a fantastic addition to my little slice of reality! Thanks to this forum I figured out that the FSUIPC window replaces the ADVDisplay for ATC messages.Several posts hint at mapping a key to toggle the FSUIPC window. Do I need the payware version to do this? Or is there another way to close or hide that window when I'm in my spot plane or tower view? Thanks all,Russ
January 29, 200719 yr Moderator Hi Russ,Yes, I believe you do need the registered version of FSUIPC. And because the command is only available from within FSUIPC's extra commands there is no FS9 substitute. It's well worth the money especially given the more accurate joystick calibration it uses and for scores of additional FS commands that can be mapped to a button which aren't available in FS's assignments screen.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). January 30, 200719 yr Ray,Thank you for the quick response to my question. OK, so it's now moved to the catagory of another "must have"! It's a bit amazing how the original purchase of FS, soon leads to an geometrically escalating series of "must have" purchases. Even though everyone has a different threshold for what becomes a "must have"; I bet a math guru could write a formula with: Satisfaction = FS + Addon + Addon*less time + 2x addon*even less time + video card + RAM + 3x addon + yoke + ...opps, there's an new version of FS, so sell the car and children, buy required main frame, start over.Regards,Russ
January 30, 200719 yr Moderator Hi Russ,Back in the days when FSUIPC was free it was a rare person who didn't have it installed. Apart from its useful calibration and button assignments it also included some bug fixes such as the draining battery where all the electrics would go off after 10 mins or so.When Pete decided to go shareware with v3 there were some moans but most people decided that for the modest outlay it was an indispensible piece of software. That remains the case with v4 which is compatible with FSX.There is no alternative to FSUIPC although that will change over time as Microsoft look to provide a link through SimConnect. That's for the future though. So keep your car and children but send the kids out on a Saturday job so they can pay for what's really important in life. Keeping their dad in useful software for his hobby! ;-)Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
