A Mooney M210 "Cadet"

This is a Mooney M210 currently for sale in North Carolina. The M210 "Cadet" was my first trainer which I flew out of Brown Field in southern San Diego county, California, while in the Navy. I started my PPL training in the latter part of 1971 and put in my requisite 40 hours or more by the end of 1972. At about 20 - 25 hours, the club sold the M210 out from under me, and I transitioned to 172's. What a change that was; low wing to high, no flaps to flaps, whoza!

EDIT: forgot to mention that training for a PPL in those days cost about $500 USD to get you through your 40 hours, a little ground school and your flight and written exams by the FAA. Not bad compared to today's costs, which last time I looked, was north of $5,000 USD.
