  1. Just a thought. Any possibility this problem is coming from small spikes in A/C power to my computer? I am running my PC off a six-outlet power-strip which should protect against power spikes. But I don't have a UPS. I am barking up a possible tree, or just reaching for air?-DK----David KohlFly! 2. I may need to roll back the NVidia drivers. I'm thinking I'll try to use the last WHQL certified version.FYI: I just took a quick flight in the P-51. No more than 5 minutes off the ground and CTD. No nothing.I'm ready to throw in the towel.-DK----David KohlFly! 3. Bad news. Whatever is crashing Fly!2 is not being detected by the Event Logger. I just flew the B757 (PMDG) from KPHN on a flight plan to KBOS. I was passing 15K feet and changed to an outside view. I have to guess I was somewhere around Danbury CT. Boom.CTD.I just checked the log and there is no trace of any activity in any of the three logs. Nothing, nada, zilch, niente. This is the MOST frustrating thing I can think of.-DKPlease note that I am leaving for part II of my vacation tomorrow afternoon and may not be able to get back on line until early next week. Keep thinking. I'm hopeful there will be a surprise upon my return.----David KohlFly! 4. Here is one event log dump for recent "CTD's" from Windows XP that shows TRIDK8tl.dll to be at possible fault. However, I could not locate other log entries that I was certain were from Fly!2. I will keep track now that I know where this event logger is.Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: Application ErrorEvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 1000Date: 6/19/2003Time: 17:05:12User: N/AComputer: DGZH8Y01Description:Faulting application fly2.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module tridx8tl.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00001029.For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.Data:0000: 41 70 70 6c 69 63 61 74 Applicat0008: 69 6f 6e 20 46 61 69 6c ion Fail0010: 75 72 65 20 20 66 6c 79 ure fly0018: 32 2e 65 78 65 20 30 2e 2.exe 0.0020: 30 2e 30 2e 30 20 69 6e 0.0.0 in0028: 20 74 72 69 64 78 38 74 tridx8t0030: 6c 2e 64 6c 6c 20 30 2e l.dll 0.0038: 30 2e 30 2e 30 20 61 74 0.0.0 at0040: 20 6f 66 66 73 65 74 20 offset 0048: 30 30 30 30 31 30 32 39 000010290050: 0d 0a .. 6. Can you tell me where to find the error file that would contain the STOP error code? Directory? Or within an application?I'll look it up Wednesday morning between trips out of town and post it.-DK
  7. I'll try this, but may post the relevant error for your counsel. NOTE: I'm leaving for a week of vacation so I won't get to this until July 7 most likely (I will be home for a day in the middle, but don't expect to have time to track this down). The unsigned-driver concept gets me, though, since as far as I know, the recent NVidia drivers are not WHQL certified. Is that what you are referring to?-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
  8. I have been running Fly!2 with the standard TRIDX8.dll file instead of the T&L driver, but tonight on final into KSLC, I got the normal CTD. What a disappointment. I thought maybe it was the T&L driver.I was flying the B777.Now back to the drawing board.-DK----David KohlFly! 9. I just got home and verified that the option you refer to above is already unchecked. Back to the drawing board.-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
  10. Sorry Wayne. My bad. But to my point in the original post, I seem to have lots of these and here is a perfect example of an airport with default taxiways where the runways and taxiways don't line up.-DK----David KohlFly! 11. I am eager to try this. I will run some tests and see if I can eliminate the CTD's. -DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
  12. Excellent. I look forward to a nice flight one of these days soon.Best regards. Don't work too hard.-DK
  13. Here's another. I am using Wayne's KOAK and I have to believe he fully tested the connections. Notice the disconnects just behind where I took off....-DKhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/17915.jpg----David KohlFly! 14. I posted two nice shots in the Screenies forum @...http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=57467&page=In addition, I have a question. I noticed a black corner of some scenery (photo posted), but as I got closer, it disappeared. Is something to do with Medium radius? I noticed this "dark fade" problem on several tile seams, but it was most pronounced here. Great scenery. My question should not be taken as a complaint, just wondering why it happens.-DK----David KohlFly! 15. I'm gonna try flying without T&L for a while. I'll report back in a few days.-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
  16. Idea went nowhere. I CTD'd in the Staggerwing today on a flight over the San Francisco Bay. Was on the way from KOAK to HAF and about 3K feet over the bay I pressed the "down" arrow to check a gauge and BLAM - gone. This is getting worse, not better.-DK----David KohlFly! 17. Rob:A while back, you said you were working on TerraScenery for the Washington State / Vancouver border area. I have TerraScened most of Western Washington State, but do not have the skills nor time to work on the manual effort required to get the border areas. This part of our countries are so gorgeous... little island, big mountains.... I always fly there and am always reminded that I haven't completed the ground work. What's the status? Can you post files to AVSIM? Create "project packs" like has been done for Ohio and Carolinas?Would love to see this area of North America completed.Let us know.-DK----David KohlFly! 18. Yes. As per my signature, I'm at 2.5.240. -DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
  19. Two things:1 - My aperture size was already 256 MB and couldn't be set higher. So as an experiment, I lowered it to 128 MB and will report back if this helps.2 - It is not ONLY with PMDG aircraft. It seems to happen more often with PMDG aircraft, but then again, I take longer flights with PMDG aircraft. But this has happened with the Pilatus at least once, and I am pretty sure I've had it crash with other aircraft.I just re-installed all my PMDG stuff from scratch following every step of the PMDG forum, but still having crashes since with the 777 and 757. -DK----David KohlFly! 20. I am going to try to increase the size of my AGP Aperture. I have it set at 128MB now (or it might be 256MB). I'll verify next time I get on my home PC. Someone once said it should be set to approx half of your system RAM - I have a GB of system RAM, so arguably, I can increase AGP to 512MB. I'm wondering if somehow I'm overloading the card and something inside WinXP is just shutting down the application to prevent damage to the card. I have no real basis for supposing this, but its worth a try. Anyone out there with XP knowledge enough to help diagnose the problem?-DK----David KohlFly! 21. No airports specifically. It would be nice to fill in ones along the Puget Sound, the San Juan's, etc. Perhaps Jefferson County, Roche Harbor,.... dunno all the names, but filling in near the Olympics would be great.-DK----David KohlFly! 22. Just noticed EIDW where I have customer TM scenery from the AVSIM library. Taxiways are waaaaaayyyyyy off. Anyone else with this problem?-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
  23. Wayne:I saw the new airports in the file library, but haven't had the time to download and try them out. But in advance, I want to say thanks very much. I appreciate your hard work.Next project - Northwest Washington State and the West Coast of Oregon. Some of the most beautiful VFR flying (with TerraScene) in the country IMHO. When you have the time. But always appreciated.-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
  24. I have the Staggerwing. And on the Video update, I have installed patch 2.5.240 (final patch). Should I re-install the old video update (that's been out since 210 I think)? I can try that.-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
  25. Not the problem. I re-installed the 757 and 777 yesterday. I had deleted the SIT files for those planes prior to re-installing the aircraft. When I took my first flight with the 777, Fly!2 died about 2 hours into a 2:30 flight. I had initiated descent into EGKK on a plan from Rome. About 2 minutes after initiating the descent, Fly!2 quit. I wasn't even touching the controls... I was, in fact, in the bathroom and noticed the sudden silence. Hmmm... perhaps my PC detected what I was doing in the bathroom and quit in protest. :-)-DK----David KohlFly!
