I had to edit the post, it auto corrected to fail. I see what your saying. I'm taking a look now. I wasn't trying to be rude at all. I'm shopping newegg as I type.

Extremely valid point. My concern is with weather and things like that. Is the sim smoothish at 20fps? I can't stand lag and shudder on final and things like that. Mind you I don't run AI (fly online) and auto gen isn't hugely important to me.

Thanks for all the replies folks. I'm looking at the GTX680. I hear there is bit of improvement from the 580 to 680, correct?

Hey guys,
I've been out of flight sim for 4 years and finally building a new machine. Going with the i7 2600k and hoping to OC. I'm needing a recommendation for a video card to run on a single monitor setup with track ir. Any tips and recommendations would be greats.
Thanks!

I just wanted to get a conscientious as to the PMDG customer base about FSX stability.
Everytime I get the twitch to build a new machine for FSX and the NGX, I find posts stating how you have to constantly deal with CTD's/reformats/etc. On top of that, I'm a C3 rated controller on VATSIM and see people "drop off" due to CTD's pretty constantly.
I have all the popular tweak articles bookmarked and plan to us them, even with those, is FSX still THAT glitchy?

Hey I was working TWR that night. It was radar vectors to join J15. BTG was just used as a anchor for departure.
Cheers!

My thoughts exactly. Thats why I'm looking for a close FsNav replacement. You can actually do that with FSBuild, but its a huge pain to work with. I wouldnt recommend it for that. I wouldnt recommend it for the autogenerator either, the only thing its really good at is to export to various payware formats. -
The only reason why I am asking for a tool like this is because sometimes I fly into little known fields that sometimes it is hard to find flight plans to/from so I will build my own route and FsNav worked for that in the map screen. All I had to do was find the navaids between the airports I wanted and select those into the flight plan. I hope I am getting my point across clear enough. Thanks
-
I have FsBuild. Everyone swears by it and I'm not sure why. Sure it offers a auto generator and stuff but it's kinda basic. Besides, unless I am missing something, I can't view a map to look at the different navaids to choose from on the route I'm wanting to fly, can I? That's why fsnav worked great, I could just drag and drop my route and be done with it. ThanksI have just purchased Aivlasoft EFB and i just love it, but actually i don't use it to build flight plans so i can't comment as far as Aiv. EFB is concerned. I have been using FSBUILD for some time now, so i import the .pln file from FSX that was built in FSBUILD into EFB.I use the EFB for all its other great attributes. If you are looking purely for a flight planner then FSBUILD would be a great choice in my opinion and a lot cheaper than Aiv. EFB, which of course is more expensive for a very good reason. It is not just a flight planner.Regards, -
I need some help...Getting back into FS (used 9, now coming to X for NGX) and I need a good flight planner. What I'm needing is a tool to use that I can manual select route ie choose the specific VOR/Victor/jet routes/etc that I want to fly and build a plan that way. My top contender is Aivia EFB with FsCommander coming a close second. Can anyone provide any insight as to which program does this better? I don't need anything that will export to fms or what not, I enjoy putting that in myself. Thanks!

Great job on executing a great flight here. But more importantly.... Awesome software!

Can someone explain the UIAutomationcore.dll issue? First time I have seen it. Does the intro doc have a fix for this?No issues here. I just competed a flight from PANC to PHNL (~2800nm!) in the ETOPS Alaska -800. Various other pattern work before hand with one CTD at FSX close (no surprise). Not a hitch!!! Most of the issues I've seen on the forum so far have been the following: 1. PC specs at or below minimum. A lot of this going around. A 4-6 year old PC isn't enough, guys. Not with the setting's you're running, and not without understanding how to make it work.2. Complete disregard of the manual, lack of system knowledge, or laziness.3. FSX short comings. UIAutomationcore.dll CTDs. OOMs. Etc.4. A hand full of plain old unreasonable people. -
I'm reading through the forums and starting to get discouraged with the NGX and FSX (more the latter: OOM's CTD's etc) the more I read. I am waiting on parts for my new i7 2600K Sandy Bridge, gtx570, 2X4gb DDR3 ram build however all the issues everyone is having is making me nervous I just wasted alot of money... Is there people NOT have issues? If you have any of the specs I just mentioned, please feel free to reply with how things are going for you so far. I'm not saying there isn't people that aren't happy, they just seem to be keeping to themselves if that is the case.

I'm looking at building a system close to yours, hows your performance?
-
Hey everyone! If you bought the NGX, make sure you post some pictures for us waiting on computer parts! Great job PMDG!
-
Dont mean to hijack here however I have a question as well... When using trackir, how do you move about the cockpit? In some of Nicks videos he starts in the door way and moves to the captains seat. do you just use your head to maneuver there or do you use your key board?
-
The proclip is a infrared sensor and doesn't get interfered with where as the track clip is reflectors that attach to a hat.
-
So now that we know the details with the release, what will be included with the download? Manuals? Load manager? Etc Etc.Will the -700 be just as detailed and perfected as the -800? (in other words it wont be a lot less simulated like the old package was)Great work guys!
-
Thanks for all the help guys! Thankfully this isn't my first build, just my first OC effort. Ill keep everyone informed as to how it goes.

I appreciate the feed back. I was hoping for 30fps thought so thats why i wanna OC. Is it stuttery at all or smooth??Hey Shawn, I just built mine, using a I7 2600K with an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Mobo, ASUS 560 TI 1 GB Video card, and I am getting locked at 24 fps fairly steady on a fps pig plane. I haven't overclocked anything, and it seems to be working just fine. Just food for thought............
HEY HEY HEY! I like to tell myself that too but the Ms. wouldnt be happy if $1500 disappeared without her knowing! lolI just envy you guy , at my age I have to ask permission to my mind only and I assure you I am almost never surprised by the answer -
In preparation of the release, I've been given permission to build a computer and will be ordering parts tonight. I'm ordering the i7 2600k sandybridge with the Asus P8Z68 mobo and the GTX570.My question is this....how in the world do I start overclocking this processor and where should I stop at? I've read some places that its a simple as a couple clicks in the mobo software and other places its gonna be a walk through the bios. If anyone can give me a idea on where/how to do all this I would much appreciate it. I am hoping to get 4ghz out of this but then I've seen others get 4.5. Any help would be grateful!

Hey guys...Has PMDG stated what variants will be available for the NGX? From the screenshots, we have seen the -700 and -800 but I wasn't sure if it was stated that the BBJ or the -900ER would be included. Thanks for any insight.Regards,
-
I was wondering how long it would take someone to bring that up.Very late Alpha? -
First of all thanks for all the replies. Keep them coming. The issue I'm seeing (and I'm glad I'm not the only one) is that building a pretty solid machine will still net you ~25 fps with payware.....almost 5 years after this program was launched. What does that say about the new "Flight" release? Wow.
New i7 2600k machine, need recommendation for card.
