  1. Hi vonmar, Yes I have still an outstanding ticket with PMDG and have responded to the emails they sent me. I am still hopeful but things have gone somewhat quiet recently. I am somewhat confused about "signatures". Are they supposed to be in the text, or independent of the text. I don't see signatures in the vast bulk of submissions to the forums. Ray Hardiman
  2. HI, I still have no resolution to this problem, and would like to bump it up the agenda in case someone out there has a real resolution idea. Really the title is a misnomer, it should have been called "Activation Problem",but how was I to know? Cheers RH
  3. Yes I have a fully updated FSX. I am now in communication with PMDG support, and appear to have a clean sheet with regard to all the obvious windows/fsx potential issues. We will have to dig deeper, I am still hopeful of resolutionCheers RH
  4. Hi, I am informed by Aerosoft support that this Activation problem belongs in the PMDG court, and I must hope for a resolution there. I now have an open support ticket for it and hopefully it will be resolved soon. I can't wait to get flyingCheers RH
  5. Hi Ian,Thanks for the suggestion. Yes I have also fallen foul of the "hidden question" problem on other occasions, and it may well have happened on this install. But it obviously lets one proceed on blithely in ignorance to completion of the install. My problem now is that it DOESNT RE-OCCUR on the subsequent uninstall/ reinstall attempts. Obviously you only get one go at doing this right! Cheers, Ray Hardimanps I did try to do a system restore but dont have one prior to the first PMDG install - another gotcha!
  6. Hi All Again,I have now solved the registration/verification problem at the PMDG support page! I used a totally different name, password, and email address, and this did go through the verification process. I presume the previous choices must have conflicted with something in the verification process, but that process was not sophisticated enough to offer me a clue as to why it was rejecting me! I now have two ids on the site one unverified and one verified. I will just have to try to remember which is which.Following up on my problem, I re-read the NGX introduction manual, and I note that at no place does it mention "Activation" and the consequences of failure to do so. It does mention some mysterious program called "Flexnet" that must be allowed to operate. I now notice via Task Manager that "FLEXnet licensing service" is permanently operational on my system, although it is of no help in solving my activation problem. I guess with 8 cores and 16gb of memory I can let that pass. I also note that the Aerosoft NGX package has no mention of Activation (or FLEXnet), it merely has a small document with one paragraph saying you mustnt be nasty to Boeing et al, and the rest is dedicated to Tutorial 1. Is it so surprising that I was somewhat baffled by my problems with mouse clicks. Thanks for reading Ray Hardiman
  7. Hi Vaughan,After registering with pmdg support site and being able to log in, I am never able to get the verification process to complete. I have no idea why, I certainly get the emails and click on the field in the email. It seems to be accepted, and then I get sent to the support page, and informed that I am "not verified". What else can I do?Anyway I'm not sure who is responsible for the Activation process? Is it PMDG or is it Aerosoft? I Bought the retail packaged version from Flightstore in the UK, and it is produced by Aerosoft in Germany. They seem to have rigorous anti-piracy facility operated via something called Flexnet.I just cannot get the stage in the install sequence that requests entry of my registration key to occur. Surely there has to be a way round this? Thanks for reading. Ray Hardiman
  8. Hi MrKen again,I am running W7 on a fairly powerful machine (i7 2700k o/c to 4.5 ghz, gtx460 2gb,SSD drive). My FSX is installed on a separate drive from windows, and I do run FSX as administrator. I will report back if I get any help from Aerosoft.Cheers RH
  9. Hi MrKen,I am sorry if I appear to be carping about advice in this forum, far from it; I appreciate very much the help given by you and others. I am puzzled that fell so easily into this trap and have had so much trouble getting out of it. Yes I have removed FSX folder from virus checking and I do not have any performance enhancing software. at first I presumed yr comments were just suggestions of possibilities rather than categoric truths, but these things gradually become clearer in time. I now feel the problem may lie more probably as a responsibility of Aerosoft than PMDG since they produce the DVD package. I have sent an email to their support address. It is strange that the uninstall/ reinstall process still gives no possibility of Activation, and that there is no realisation by the vendors that such a situation can happen. One still feels aggrieved that loyal customers get their fingers burned so easily o n anti-piracy processes.Cheer RH
  10. Hi Again,After searching Aerosoft forums I now can be fairly sure that my problems are due to Activation failures - this must have been instantly obvious to any PMDG developer out there, why is there no comment from them?I believe (and this is wearing my Sherlock Holmes Hat and Cloak), that, probably during the install process a panel should have been presented that specifically asks for the 24-character registration key. This DID NOT HAPPEN!If it had I would certainly have entered my key. Nor did it happen on the two further occasions that I have re-installed NGX. As far as I can see there is no recovery path from this foul-up. Whether it is PMDG or Aerosoft who are responsible for this I have no idea, but I would have thought at least someone out there would be helpful about it. I am a loyal CUSTOMER for goodness sake and I feel like I am being treated as a pirate. Thanks for reading RH
  11. Hi Again,In have uninstalled NGX via control panel option and re-installed as before without any unusual requests. At no time am I required to make use of the 24-character Registration Key that is supplied in the retail packet. The problem remains; no mouse action on any knob, switch, lever etc no visible movement of any aircraft yoke, pedals ailerons under control of the CH yoke and pedals. The only visible action is a mouse click on the top of the yoke causes it to shrink down and then up on another click. The engines are running and it is possible to take off and fly the aircraft from the outside view.I have acquired a name and password and can login on the PMDG support page. I do get the verification email from PMDG and can click on the verification entry on the page. However PMDG seem to ignore this process and continues to inform me that I have not been verified for forum entries. It also has a message displayed in red on the page saying that it has abandoned email support and one should go to the Avsim forums for assistance. Presumably there is a connection to these two facts. So where do I stand now??I Purchased PMDG NGX from : - FlightStore - A very well known and major retailer of Flight Sim software in the UKThe packaging is by; - Aerosoft GgmbH - A very well known and major supplier of add-on aircraft etc to FSXThe developer is: - PMDG: - A very well known and cherished designer of high quality aircraft add-ons for FSXThe support? is by - AVSIM - A very well known and respected host of a multitude of forums and community of helpful peopleI spent £50 on this product. The most I have ever spent on an add-on aircraft for FSX ( the previous highest was for FS2004 PMDG 737). Which is really the appropriate place to receive support??? I am very grateful for the kind interest shown by fellow AVSIM members but shouldnt some pmdg developers have the best advice?I must admit that the advice above suggesting that this is something to do with registration may well be right.. Could it be that the anti-piracy facility is so strong that it prevents even the customer from using it!!Thanks for reading RH
  12. Hi Again,I have re-installed EZDOK without any sign of improvement. EZDOK seems to be reluctant to recognise PMDG 737 in its own right, it seems to to call it B738! and has a load of camera settings starting "PILOT-IN-COMMAND"Re-installing NGX is also a pain. The DVD refuses to install over the top of the SP1c install since it is an earlier version . It insists on that being uninstalled first, but PMDG offers no uninstall process and warns against deleting files! Does PMDG no longer directly support its products? I was not allowed to verify my support account on their product forum. How come I am the only person in the universe to hit this problem - RH
  13. Hi All,Thanks for taking an interest. Whats does "activate the plane" mean. The retail package supplies an activation code but there is no request to use it anywhere. Did I miss something??I will look at the DVD contents again. Thanks RH.
  14. Hi All,My retail-packaged copy of NGX arrived yesterday and I eagerly went through all the install processes without problem. I was fairly familiar with the product from following many of the excellent YouTube videos and various tutorial docs; I was previously an avid user of the 2004 version. I read the introduction and made the various suggested changes, and then started the Tutorial 1 processes. And then, oh dear, what misery!!I set up the 800wl version on runway 8R of Gatwick as required by the tutorial booklet supplied in the Aerosoft retail packaging. The engines were running so I set the parking brake began the FMC initialisation as described. I was rather puzzled that everything was black (unlike the pictures) and hence started to try to start the electrics. I then realised that with one exception NO mouse operations on the panel(s) was possible - no hands - no buttons - no levers etc . No possibility of doing anything sensible. The one exception to this sad story is that I am able to lower the yoke column and back - big deal.I then started the sorry process of looking for a culprit - the usual ridiculous wild goose chase. So far I haveUninstalled EZDOK - no change, Deleted FSX.CFG - no change. Set all controls to default - no change, Deleted FSUIPC4.ini - no change. !!!What am I supposed to do next - re-instal FSX and everything? that is a massive burden for me.Any ideas whats gone wrong??
