  1. Randy:Please email library@avsim.com to have this done.

First, My apologies to everyone who downloaded my KCLT2010.zip scenery. It seems that modifying the AP926190.bgl file accomplished what I intended for KCLT, but removed 30 or so airports in the Charlotte area, Fayetteville and Spartanburg to name a couple.. I have asked the Library Managers to remove the file from the download list until I can resolve the issue. I hope everyone who downloaded this file followed my instructions and copied the default AP926190.bgl into a safe place before overwriting it. If not, my e-mail address was included with the file download. Simply e-mail me and I will provide my default AP926190.bgl file for you to install and your airports will return. After returning the default AP926190.bgl to the FS9\Scenery\Name\Scenery file the fourth runway will still be visible at KCLT and will be "useable", but generic buildings and trees will appear in the added taxiways and new runway. The taxiway signs when approaching 18C and 36C from the terminal side will revert to the default 18R and 36L. Simply remove the KCLT2010 folder from your addon scenery folder and the default KCLT will return. This was my first attempt to upload a file to AVSIM, however I have been using ADE9x to modify scenery on my own system for some time. I tested the design for several days on my own system and had a friend install it on his. Unfortunately, both of us concentrated on the taxi procedures and landing/takeoff process at Charlotte Douglas, never trying to go to a surrounding airport.Again, my thanks to those who tried my scenery and yet at the same time, my very sincere apologies to you for the unintended consequences. Again, a reminder, simply replace the AP.... file I included in my download with the default one you saved elsewhere (or e-mail me if you failed to do that) and remove the KCLT2010 file from your addon scenery. Your system will be just as it was before the download.I sincerely apologize to you, the pilots, and to the staff and managers at AVSIM. I am working hard even now correcting the file without using a modified AP926190.bgl file and yet still accomplish my goal of accurate taxiway signs. I have already corrected the generic building and trees on the taxiways and runway.Randy "Ramjett53" Tyndall

  2. Mr. Scott:There must be something amiss with your email program. I did not receive any mail from you and two of the people you claim to have emailed are not on the front page anymore because they have left Avsim. Apparently you got the email list from an old front page. The library managers answer all emails and resolve all problems if it is humanly possible to do so.I suggest you try again and we will see what happens.

Just a little update in case anybody from the library team are listening in,i have had no reply to ANY of the e-mails i sent to all e-mail adresses listed for the library team.

It is not that big a deal really, its just that my files are doing quite well on Simviation, Flightsim.com and i hoped that they would do well on Avsim, but as i cannot upload to Avsim and no-one will help me with the upload problem (Well, people have lent helping words, but they are not part of the library team), then i can only limit my files to other websites. It is not me who is losing out, rather people who might be looking for just such a paint as i have done, or like the subjects i have portrayed, my paints are well recieved and would be through this site im sure, but as i wished to share my paints with the widest audience, then maybe Avsim is not the right avenue for me. This is not a gripe, moan etc. Just an observation on help requested to help recieved. Its the little people that make the big ones look better, if you cant take care of those little people (contributers).........................

  3. Hello:I think your idea is a good one. We will consider it. Up to now the popularity of a file has been noticed by the number of downloads.

Hello! Before i start i want to apologise for my bad english. I am from germany and school is many years ago...I´d like to have a rating for the available downloads. I´ve loaded a lot of files. Some did not work, others were just crab. Is it possible to create a rating like ebay or something? Maybe it could be a 5 oder 10 star rating. IT is also important to know how many people have rated at this point. Installation: x starsGraphic: x starsFlight model: x starssound: x starsI´d be lucky to get an anwer or something. Greetings from cologne, germany, Fredi81 / water-paradise.de

  4. Hello from the Library:I am sorry if there was no reply from library staff. Your spam filter may have intercepted a message. We answer all emails regarding the library. In answer to your problem I believe you may need to recheck your security and especially if you have Norton Products installed. Avsim does not function well with any accelerators used for downloading either.Hope this helps

Avsim.com and Avsim.net are both allowed by my AV. Click on "Download", the Library Service page opens, I click "Allow" on my "No-Script" options and the next page that should bring up the file save dialogue starts loading - all perfectly normal and exactly the same as I have done for years. But the page never loads: the loading bar stops half way.Its been like that for days. Sent a mail to the Library Admin but nobody replied.

  5. Stuart:Your file was more than likely deleted because it was danaged during the attack on Avsim. We do not delete good files.

Hi,Last year I posted a quick tutorial on altering the cockpit displays on aircraft for this sim for users of Nvidia graphics cards.I needed it myself today and noticed it had been deleted for some reason - is there any way to get it back on for others that may need it ?Thanks...........Stuart

  6. Gents:Most of the PSS files that were at Phoenix Software have been uploaded to the Avsim Library by yours truly. This is an exclusive to Avsim that we were fortunate to aquire. I still have some to upload but I believe 80% are there. The files are compiled so you may have to download something you don't need to get what you want. Zipdiving the archive may show you what you are looking for. There are so many files I that I could not separate them all into specifics however some are in category.

Hey everyone. Is there any possible way to get the official liveries for the 777 even though PSS is out of business? I know the installers still work but unfortunately PSS went out before I could buy the multipack with all of the liveries. I'm stuck with the 3 models and just the roll-out colors and obviously my account email and password will only work for the aircraft and not the liveries. Thanks guys.

  7. Andersel:From your post it appears that you can download files from Avsim but you just don't know where they are going. Windows usually has a default folder for this which can be called 'received files' or 'my documents' or 'downloads'.Right click on the start button and then 'explore' the folders looking for one of the defaults. Teh downloaded file should be there. I suggest making a desktop shortcut to this drive for easy access in the future. Hope this helps.

For some unknown (to me, that is)reason I Can't Download files from the AVSIM library. When I click on the Download button the requested download just starts up and sends the desired file to someplace I just cannot find. Believe me, I've looked everywhere. Can anyone help? O/S: Vistai.e. 8Could either of these facts be causal? LA

  8. Ryan:Sids and stars is the first thing I checked. They are there.

Gents:After a crash and re-installing everything and getting it activated there are no appproaches available when seeting up the FMC. I think I have done everything in the correct order.I did a search here but didn't come up with the answer.Any help would be appreciated.

  10. Hello:Your stone in the pond equates in English as FLOGGIN A DEAD HORSE. I have tweaked these numbers in every manner possible with not a lot of difference from one scenario to the next. A google search will return some good results some of which may explain the formula you mention. In addition to google you can also search here at Avsim for care and control of fs9.cfg and there will find some good info. Some pilots out there have put their config files online for you to copy and try. The end result that I found was trial and error until you get the settings that work best. With so many different combinations of hardware and lots of scenery and aircraft textures to load up it still seems hit and miss. Hope this helps a little. Good luck with it.

Hello everyone,Maybe I'm throwing a stone into the pond (translation of a Dutch expression, don't know whether it exists in English, but you'll no doubt understand the meaning). Searching the various forums one can find lots of opinions and advice on certain parameters in the FS9 config file, dealing with texture processing. Among them TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT (TBM), TextureMaxLoad (TML) - not to be confused with TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD - and of course framerate (FPS). From various sources I understand that the sim puts these elements into a formula: TML (default is 3) multiplied by TBM (default is 80 I believe), divided by FPS (provided FPS has been locked). Assuming this is true, then obviously such a formula must have an outcome ("x"), which, looking at the formula, would be the number of textures being processed per frame. There are all sorts of ideas about the values of the first three elements (e.g.TBM to be set at 400 or a lower figure 'until stutters disappear', TML set to a value between 3 and 10, locking FPS, etc.), but surprisingly I've never come accross posts which elaborate on the significance of the outcome of the formula, the value of "x". Let us assume that we set TBM at the much acclaimed value of 400, and we do not insert a line "TextureMaxLoad=", so the value remains at its default value of 3, and finally we lock our FPS at 24, then "x" would be (400x3/24=) 50. But what does that figure mean? E.g. related to a mid range graphics card with 256 Mb VRAM, is 50 high or even too high? And what about variations in the elements of the formula? 200x6/24 leads to the same value of 50, but does the sim see it that way too?I have the impression that I am not the only one in the FS community who finds this part of the 'FS caves' mysterious and I'm really not expecting quick answers. But maybe there is a guru out there who can shed some light on this issue. :( Kind regards,Ren

  11. Fellow Pilots:The NL2000 FSX files are all in the library now and all linked together. To avoid confusion due to the number of files and links I suggest grabbing the whole package because they all require the installer and some require the NL 2000 libraries.Almost Live From Canada....."keep your stick on the ice".

  12. If it helps, these are some of the files that are missing from the library. aimcr2_dalskywestwavy.zip, aimcr2_dalcomairwavy.zip, aimcr2_dalasawavy.zip, and aimcr2_mesabanc.zip.
Hello:We have had various files go missing or corrupt after the hack we suffered last year. They appear as being in the library but they are not. If you email the library@avsim.com with specific files names and/or Avsim I.D. we may be able to ask the author for a re-upload. We have recovered hundreds of files in this manner.
