  1. Hello everyone, I Was also experiencing freezes and the occasional CTD. However my theory is not with my audio drivers as i have a dedicated usb Creative sound blaster soundcard. My theory based on observation is that the size of the soundfiles (packs, enginestart, wind and a few others) has some type of negative impact on my computer's memory. I know this is frowned on, but ive reduced the size of these sound files and the impact has been positive. Currently, im parked at Fsdreamteam's KJFK for atleast 4 hours with no noticeable stutters or freezes. In addition, Im noticing that the textures on the 777 are loading up a bit faster than before.

  2. It might be that we are all looking in the wrong direction for a solution. On my system, which I admit can use a decent cpu upgrade, I was able to get rid of the stutters and freezing of the 777 by reducing the file size of some of the sound files. (packs, apu, enginestart, wind, etc) More testing of this hypothesis is needed but I was able to load FSdreamteam's JFK with no noticeable stutters or freezing after the tweak.

  3. My reply wasn't aimed at you Julian, looks like we posted at nearly the same time.  My post was for CappinSuruje.

    Hi Robert,

I admit im not much of an airbus fan or an expert, but the autopilot on the BBS a330 left me scratching my head. I literally had to dive into the aircraft.cfg file to water down the over aggressive pitch and roll behavior of the autopilot. Again im no expert, but Im almost certain that, in the real aircraft, selecting a higher cost index in the filght computer results in a higher cruise speed. Not so with the current version of the BBS a330.   For 50 bucks, I should not be doing anything with the cfg file and .air file to make her fly smoothly. Another thing was the fuel flow rates - sitting on the ground, engines at idle, and she burns somewhere between 3,000 and 7,000 pounds of fuel per engine. (Cant remember the exact figure.) There were several other nuisances that made me uninstall it completely and go back to waiting for the T7.

  4. Im sorry to say this like this, but the corn on my big toe is worth more than the BBS a330. I looked at all the youtube videos and read all the reviews i could find, but nothing prepared me for the aggressive/abrupt behavior of the autopilot and other things.

  5. Not sure if this has been mentioned as yet, but check your "system page file size". Usually found at "Control Panel\System" followed by clicking "Advanced System Settings" and then "Settings" under the area that says performance. Im STILL using a Quad core 9600 with no OOM errors with a paging file size of 80,000 megabytes.

  6. Hello again,

Im running a fairly old system:

Core 2 quad Q9400 2.66 overclocked to 3.34 on air

    Nvidia gtx 460

    4 gigs ram patriot

    500gig western digital hdd

    Asus P5q Pro turbo mobo

Windows vista 64bit Home premium with service pack 2 installed

    FSX with service pack 2

    SDK SP1A

    Pmdg md11

    and NGX

Nothing else running while FSX is running as i have ACTive sky and sqwaukbox on a networked laptop

And no other addons/scenery installed as yet

Basically had to repair windows because my DVD drive stopped working and the registry edit fix that I found on the internet didnt fix it but sent windows vista into recovery mode where It was asking for the Vista CD to repair it. So i Repaired it and basically bought a external DvD drive and reinstalled FSX and the NGX from scratch after a few registry cleanings. Only thing left for me to do is to completely reinstall windows but im trying hard not to go through that without trying everything else.

Do let me know if you need more info.

  7. Hello captains,

Im having a series of issues with the NGX and need some serious help. My 737 was previously working perfectly but another issue caused me to repair windows and also caused me to uninstall FSX and the NGX.

So after reinstalling FSX Deluxe from the dvd's, installing the two service packs followed by the SDK service packs and rebooting between each, I install the 737, reboot, and attempt to load the 737. The ngx, however, brings fsx to its knees and slows the sim down to the point where it locks up and freezes. (I have to CTRL+ALT+Delete to load the various FSX menus and after pressing the "Fly NOW" button the sim does not load up at all. In addition to this, after i force the sim to close, FSX crashes.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what is going on, or what im doing wrong? This is actually my 5th reinstall of FSX and the NGX/Md-11 since wednesday and the same thing happens each time. I have since updated windows Vista 64 bit Home premium service pack 2. Is this a .NET framework issue? or even a MS Visual C++ issue? Please help.

P.S. I have performed several registry cleanings using CCleaner.

  8. Absolutely no problem using an external fuel loader if you know what your doing and use the correct fueling logic. PMDG's advice regarding only using the built in loader is to protect themselves from people screwing it up.

    Regards

    What is the correct logic?

  9. From the event viewer after multiple CTD:

"Faulting application fsx.exe, version 10.0.61472.0, time stamp 0x475e17d3, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00000000, process id 0xce0, application start time 0x01cd0fac2c79ac9b."

  10. I know this probably not the best forum to ask but its my last resort at the moment . Is there any one else experiencing connection issues with feelthere map networked edition with PMDG aircraft? Ive tried everything in the manual and their forums but still getting "Not Connected" message along with trouble connecting the telnet client to the host. Any ideas anyone?

  11. Hi GideonApologies for the delayed reply, I have not had much of a chance to fire up my PC lately, but here I am now, so the repaint request, I have to say that I like this colour scheme myself so it will be a keeper for me at least, and as I did managed to get some repainting time in I have had a go at the Air Caraibes repaint, so if you would like to take her for a spin to see if she is close to what you wanted, then here is the download link for the files..http://www.filefront...Caraibes_01.zipAs always, if you find that you want any changes or updates to the colour scheme then just let me know and I will try my best to assist, and we have no need to be formal here on the forum (at least as far as I am concerned) , so Jim will do fine, as even at my age I still look around for my Dad when ever I hear Mr Hodkinson, and thank you for the kind comments, they really are appreciated.Take care, and have fun.Jim Hodkinson@ BjarneIt should not be a problem, and Jim will do fine, so let em see what I can get together for you, by that I mean let my tidy up the originals so that you don’t see all my mistakes.Take care, and back as soon as I can.Jim Hodkinson@ loeb1I don’t have a problem with updating the files for you, but I would have been nice if you had signed your post, and not only because of the forum rules, but it would be nice to know to whom I am conversing.
Hi Jim,Thanks for that speedy delay in your response..lol The paint is beautiful and pretty close to to the one in the picture. There's a few color changes that will make it even closer, Toward the tail section on the MD11 paint I noticed you shaded that section slightly bluer shade than the fuselage - is it possible to make it a darker shade of blue as in the attached picture? Also the engine textures seem to have a slightly darker shade of blue as well. Lastly, do you think you can extend the White part that curves into the tail a little further aft as in the picture?Gideon Belle

  12. Hello Mr HodkinsonI think you deserve a parade and 2 rounds of applause for your awesome paints, its really adding a new dimension of realism to the sim and the MD11. I literally didnt know which one to download first!I would really love the MD11 in Air Caraibes colors. Any chance you can put the colors together for this awesome bird? Thanks again!Gideon Belle

  13. Talk about unlucky! My Coolit Domino ALC had the nerve to spill coolant all over my Mobo. Ended up buying a brand new motherboard, matching Ram, and air cooled Heatsink - and not to mention reformatting the harddrive, installing all addons, and setting up the sim to the way it was before.Moral of the story, set up a no-liquid zone around your PC - complete with armed guards, rocket launchers, and a pit bull. 14. Sky Theme = High FlyerCloud Theme = Cumulus 11Ocean Water = Ocean BlueYou want a nice dark or close to black sky once you get up to a good height . I always fly in the summer and like it to look hot as i hate winter . Plus with the summer textures you get better framerates .Lee Marrow
Wow i never knew this! Thanks so much for your work and for your response. Been searching a long while for right REX settings; think i just found it thanks to you.Gideon Belle
