  1. Why in the world would an aircraft have NAV radios, but no instruments to use them? You could technically use the GPS to fly waypoint to waypoint and you could fly an airway using it, but it would not be "legal" in the real world without an approved GPS, and I believe functioning VORs are mandatory, but the virtual world is what you're happy with.
  2. I know this reply is quite late, but I found that the source of this problem on my Win7 64bit machine was a faulty or missing SP2 for FSX.I uninstalled/reinstalled FSX with SP1 and 2, and never had the problem again. The reinstall also solved some other problems as a bonus.
  3. I'll give that a shot also. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you guys know the results.Edit: Well, no repair option in Vista. It's either remove completely or pound sand. :(
  4. Although I did mess with the settings in FSUIPC when trying to troubleshoot this (in flight) and selected real world weather as well, with no difference noted, I will try another flight and eliminate weather as you suggest.Thank you for the input.
  5. They are engaged ... I made sure of that before I posted. I know that the indicators will light even when they're not being commanded by the system, but I verify by moving the power levers myself.Just to add, I observe them move towards flight idle under command regardless of which autothrottle regime is active.Thanks.
  6. I'm having a little problem with the autothrottles in the 747 ... I've searched here and through the docs, but haven't found a solution.During cruise flight, with either ECON or LRC settings, A/T armed and engaged, the aircraft will constantly slow into the yellow and eventually the red regimes. The only solution I have is to disengage the A/T, manually control the power levers to regain speed, and try to find a setting that will hold the target speed. I've tried all the options: speed, VNAV, FL CH, but no matter which is engaged, the aircraft will behave as above, even though the A/T is being controlled by either the MCP or the FMC. The altitude is as selected by the FMC for the load, in this case FL300.Just to reiterate, as soon as any A/T regime is activated, the power levers will move toward flight idle and the aircraft will slow into the stall range. N1's are at 96% or thereabouts. The FMC is commanding M.832. I've checked fuel loads and weight limits, all are in range. I'm a little stumped here. Oh yeah ... this is FSX on a Vista machine, with all the necessary ingredients.Thanks.Tom S
  7. Thanks for responding, both of you. For some weird reason, the PMDG 1900D finally installed, after numerous (I mean about 15) attempts and a bunch of reboots. It did not show up in the uninstall list, but just suddenly showed up just where it should in FS9. No clue why or what the problem was.And yes I did email support, twice, starting on the 13th. I did hear from them last evening .... an apparent email problem, although I can't find any evidence of it on my end.Anyway, on the positive side, PMDG does provide a nice FAQ to port this particular aircraft into FSX, and it worked without a hitch.
  8. Interesting. 24 reads on this topic, no replies, and no response from PMDG to a legitimate question. I realize it's only $19+, but I've also purchased several other downloads from PMDG, spent a fair amount of money. Doesn't the question deserve a response of some sort?
  9. Just purchased PMDG 1900D and tried multiple times to install it, with no luck. I even extracted the .exe file and installed it as administrator. It doesn't show up anywhere in the FS9 folders. Wondering if this is some kind of Vista issue, or something else.Any help would be appreciated. I like the old turboprops. :( Tim Sheehan
