When to deploy slats/flaps when autolanding
Robi77 replied to Robi77's topic in PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)
You seem to know your stuff, therefore let me ask what is the good and correct procedure ?ThanksHubert -
Does that mean that the frequency provided by Navigraph is wrong ? Or how can I listen to the ATIS121.935 ??Thanks again
-
I parked the MD-11 at London ( Heathrow airport ) and tried to select an ATISfrequency of 121.935 ( according to Navigraph chart )To my surprise I could only obtain 121.925 or 121.950 but not 121.935.Is there a way to fine tune this to 121.935 ?ThanksHerbert Werni

From what I read regarding this subject I was under the impression thatone only has to enter an apropiate STAR,RUNWAY and TRANSITION ( TRANS )into the MCDU.The route was then ready to be flown.Unfortunately this seems not to be the case unless I do somethong wrong sinceI am a 100 % newbie. An example of an intended flight from Lyon ( France ) to Geneva ( Switzerland )illustrates my "problem".I created a flightplan using FSBuild from Lyon to Geneva, runway 23. Lyon isabout 80 nm west of Geneva. The MCDU then showed the following entries: LFLL ( Lyon )--> 34DME --> D353D -->Virie ---> LSGG ( Geneva )After consulting Navigraph ( see attachement ) I selected STAR rwy 05/23 andthe BELU1S STAR.Then I entered the following into the MCDU :Click Virie which is the last waypoint before Geneva.Click STAR and select BELU1SClick ILS23Click InsertClick TRANS ( SPR is the only option )After I looked at the plan I found this route could not be realisitic andnobody would fly it as is.Therefore some waypoints would have to be deleted in order to get a morerealistic route. But this would then defeat the purpose of the STAR.My question is : What is the answer ?ThanksHerbert Werni

Hello,I know it is a crazy flightplan and I had to modify it with hand entries. But:can you show me how to create a proper plan ( FSBuild ) from LSZH to LSGG.I want to land at rwy 23 and use the STAR FRI1S ( see Navigraph chart )And above all: no input by hand. That is if you have time to spare. Thanks Hubert Werni

Please have a look at the screen shot and I would appreciate if anybody could explain me : 1) What does this triangle after the waypoint Pinot mean ? 2) What is this arrow after the waypoint BELKA for ? 3) The magenta line goes from Pinot to Indis and then to Belka which seems to be right. But what to do with the Belka-> ? Just delete it and continue ? Thanks Hubert Werni

When to deploy slats/flaps when autolanding
Robi77 replied to Robi77's topic in PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)
Thanks.I include a few screen shots and I wonder - if you have time - if could tell me whatthose amber/green indications on the speed tape mean and especially what action to be taken.Very much appreciated as I am somewhat confused. Hubert -
I read in the MD-11 Swiss London-Zurich tutorial : "Half way between Gipol andTRA/10 extend the slats/flaps to 15" which works fine to get an autoland as described. But I am never sure at what point to start extending the slats/flaps when I do anotherflight. Is there a rule or procedure as to when to extend them ? Is it a question of speedor anything else. I cannot imagine that one does it just by guessing. I appreciate your explanations and help. Hubert Werni

How to save a flightplan from the MCDU
Robi77 replied to Robi77's topic in PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)
Thanks.I tried without achieving it.I pressed REF,then went to LSK5R,pressed that one and I gotClimb Forecast.Am I missing anything ? What I do is to modify the flight plan in the MCDU and savingit for the future.Hubert Werni -
Often I modify a flight plan in the MCDU of the MD-11 and I wonder if and how it ispossible to save that flight plan so that it is available at any time later on. Thanks Hubert Werni

I am about to work through the above tutorial trying to understand as many detailsas possible. What I cannot figure out are some entries in the NAV RADIO SETUP.( see attachedscreen shot ) For example:Where is this number 273 coming from at DET/273 and how is it defined ?( I also include a screen shot of the London SID from Navigraph ) I appreciate your help Hubert Werni

My project is to replace the Cessna 172 standard GPS with a GNS-530 system. So far I managed to have the GNS-530 on the Cessna panel ( by modifying panel.cfgfiles ) Unfortunately the standard GPS still pops up when I click on the GPS Display/Hide button. What can I do to get the GNS-530 popping up ( after clicking the Display/Hide button ) ?And how can I completely eliminate the standard GPS from my system ? Thanks for your help Hubert Werni

After making flightplans with FSBuild I noticed that the MCDU showedentries like : CF45CF23INTCPT I was under the impression that waypoints can only have 3 or 5 letters.3 for VOR,5 for waypoints.Am I wrong and why ? Thank you Hubert Werni

After entering a flightplan and flying the route I obtain the message ( seeattached picture ) which I do not understand and especially what kind of actionsare required. What means the word DECEL and what is required ? Thanks for your help Hubert Werni

I am not saying it is PMDG but I wonder if there are some settings to be improved.Have a look at the two screenshots, one of the MD-11,the other one of the 737( both taken with the same settings on my computer ) Does you PMDG-737 look better or is this the norm ? Hubert

I downloaded the PMDG-737NGX and noticed that the descriptions on theknobs are hard to read. Some are next to impossible to figure out. Is there a way to adjust this somehow ? If not then I must say that thisaspect of the PMDG-737NGX is somewhat disappointing. Hubert Werni

I bought and downloaded the PMDG-737 NGX and then tried to install it.The aircraft shows in the FSX among all others. When I select the 737 to fly I get the message :" Enter Product Activation Code" I wonder which code is required as I obtained the following 3 codes from PMDG: Order Nr Order Code Licence I tried all of them without success getting the message: you do not have avalid licence for this product. Can anybody tell me what to do ? Thanks Hubert Werni

I noticed that on some charts there is a Maltese cross at the Final Approach Fix andI assume ( correct me if I am wrong ) that this indicates the start of the Final Approach Fix.( see screen shot at Lompo ) What puzzles me is that some charts do not show this symbol.( Ex Geneva airport,ILS05 and ILS23 ) Is there a reason if any ? Hubert Werni
-
I glanced through the thousands of manual pages without finding what the symbols on the speed tape mean.See attached screen shot.1) What does the yellow line indicate ? ( at the bottom and the top of the speed tape )2) What does the yellow SR ( at 210 knots ) tell me ?3) FR ( in green ) at 165 knots and F35 ( in green ) at 188 knots ? 4) On the PFD I notice a blue, horizontal line looking like a feather ? What is the purpose of this one ?I appreciate your teaching.Hubert Werni

I read the Swissair London-Zurich tutorial which I try to fly. Everything goes as described except when it comes to landing.Being on the Glide Slope the Green Box appears and I am supposed to get a green "Dual Land" indication and more. But for what ever reason it does not show, instead I get an indication APPR ONLY and this is the end of indications. No align, flare and what have you.Can anybody suggest what I missing and what I have to watch for ? What is the trick ?I greatly appreciate your help, especially from somebody having done that flight/procedure.ThanksHubert Werni
