  1. Hi Again JimOne more testy little issue has arisen on this. I have purchased the extended service packages and have been unable to find where there is any link to re-download it.I have tried the original, expired links with no success.. There is NO link in the order confirmation page details that I can findAny suggestions where I should be looking? Thanks so much
  2. Thank you JimI will give that a go soonMuch appreciatedGeoff
  3. HiAs a newbie to this forum I hope I am following protocols hereMy issue is simple. I purchased the new 747-8 package almost a year ago. About 5 months ago I had to install an upgrade OS to W7, 64 bitIn the process I had to wipe the whole machine and lost my 747 files. I have sent numerous emails to the support line with no response and finally one response some time ago said something about going to these forumsSo here I am, hat in hand wondering how to replace my lost birds. They cost way to much to buy another setAny advice on how to go about reacquiting a package lost due to an OS upgrade, I still have the original order receipt but of course the dl key is no longer validThanks so much for your assistanceGeoff
  4. This may seem a very basic question for you but please bear with me. I spend all my time on a Mac and only keep a MS partition to run FSXNow I have W7 32 bit version installed and want to install the 64 bit version. From what I can tell I need to wipe the drive and start from scratch to do thisMy questions relate to the various addons and other third party s/w I have on the HD. What is the best way to copy those for reinstall later? Just drag the programs over to a backup disk before wiping? Something else? Reinstall everything from scratch (if i can find all my records for purchase to re download? From the old days I seem to recall that MS files are sorta broken up into all kinds of bits in different locations do dragging a folder may not have all the bits in itAny help on this would be most appreciated. Thanks so muchGeoff
  5. HiI am just starting to get really into the 747-400 and 8i with it set up on FSX on W7fMy question is - is there a way to change the default sizes of the popup panels (SHIFT - 1-7) or click on panel)? The primary displays are all fine and display correctly. These others pop up stretched and in the case of the SHIFT CallUps can be manually resized with the mouse (a pain) or in the case of Clicking on the panel in the VC there is no way to resize them on screenAny suggestions are most welcomeThanks a lotGeoff Lawrence
  6. A quick update. Ryan from PMDG had the answer. The trick is to open the Config Mgr by right clicking and running as Admin. Ditto with the FSX itselfWorked perfectly first timeWow - what an experience :-)Geoff
  7. Just a quick update on this. I did get things working correctly for the 400 model but the 8i model does not load. There is a doc with the extension called Differences of the like that does explain this and also mention that there can be some issues with the aircraft.cfg file for Windows 7. Have not tried working through that one yetAnd thanks again for the tutorial lead. Now all I have to do is read a few hundred pages and go very slowly :-)Although I did manage to get 'er off by the seat of my pants from CYVR without too many bells and warning horns. View was grand heading to CYYC. Now its time to just go back and do it rightThanks again to you both.Much appreciatedGeoff
  8. Hi and thanks for this. I thought we were on to something here but on the Config panel there are two choices on the left side - 400 or 8i and then on the right panel there are also two choices - and you have to make oneNo matter what combo I try I still end up with the nose of the plane sitting way out there in front of me while I look into the model. Any exact suggestions as to how to select and which exact model to choose that you know for you?I did find the other tutorial at the PMDG site. Thank you for that. Now I have to figure out how to save a few trees when I print it all out :-) Maybe I should have an iPad on the side !!Thank you again. Geoff
  9. OK - I know this is going to sound sorta not too bright but I have just purchased the 8i and have not done any 'serious' simming since the PMDG 737 I had back on FS04 or 09 I thinkMy questions are pretty simple.1. How the heck to I even get into the cockpit? It starts with a section of the nose on screen that I presume you zoom into to get 'in the seat' but darned if I can find any instructions on this. I am using a 3 monitor setup so will eventually have to track down the default sizes for some gauges as well and adjust them (Matrox system).2. In the initial setup and snooping around I was sure I saw a folder somewhere for this with Lessons in it but now cannot find those anywhere. Help please! Do they anything called an Instruction Manual and not just the Aircraft Manual? Thanks a lotGeoff Lawrence
