  1. Hi BryanThe Gainward GF GT240 is the new Graphics card I have fitted recently after my Sparkle GF 7600GS went "belly up". The new card is much more capable but it does display this one problem of showing some 3rd part aircraft in ghostly white.Flapless
  2. Hi everyoneI have just fitted a Gainward GF GT240 and find that the ATR does not load up correctly. I can see the shape of the aircraft inside and out but in very minimal white detail, the same happens with a few other aircraft but none of the default ones and not with Aerosoft's Piper Cheyenne. I have none of these problems with FS9 where I have the ATR also loaded. Can anyone give me a handholding solution to this, try to be untechnical if possible.Best wishesFlapless
  3. HiMy PC, originally purchased for FS9, runs FSX reasonably if I am very careful with the settings.I have noticed that Vista gives the following performance rating for my system:Processor 5.3, Memory 5.9, Graphics 4.1, Gaming Graphics 4.4 and Primary hard disk 5.7 giving my system a performance rating of 4.1It also gives FSX a game requirement rating of 3.0 and a recommended performance rating of 5.0. This appears to confirm my FSX experience, it runs but not without significant concessions, and that the video capability is the weakest link.My questions are:How relevant and/or realistic are these figures?Am I likely to see a significant gain if I upgraded my video card (a GeForce 7600GS) to a top end model? I am unlikely to be able to afford a major H/W upgrade in the near future and wonder if a good card now would keep me going and then transfer to a newer system at a later date. What video cards would you recommend? What system performance ratings does Vista give to those owning a system running FSX at or near full pelt? Please keep it as nontechnical as possible at this stage.Current systemProcessor: AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 56600+ running at 2.8 GHz.RAM: 2 GB occupying the only two slots on the M/B.Graphics: GeForce 7600GS with 500 MB of memory, which is a slower product than the GeForce.7600GT.Present software: FSX, Flight1 GEX and UTX for Europe and USA, ATR 72-500, Aerosoft My TrafficX, Cheyenne and Katana.Eventually hope to run: FEX, Global X mesh, Austria Professional, Scotflight’s scenery for Scotland and a really good model of a Cessna Skyhawk or similar to complete my hanger. All comment welcomeBlue skiesFlapless
  4. Hi allAlthough I have previously loaded and enjoyed UT Europe for FS 2004 for some years, since the return of my PC from a repair shop for a replacement motherboard I have had increasing problems loading and keeping the programme in place.I can see it in the "Scenery" folder of FS9 and have even tried loading it file by file onto the scenery library, where I then see it seemingly installed along with all the default files. I get a message telling me that the programme has to be run (take a flight)and then shut down before the programme runs and I see the results. The trouble is that when I load FS9 again it is not in the scenery library. I have ried evrything - even uninstalling FS9 just in case I had a bad install. Can anyone help me with this problem. One last thing; when I got the PC back from the repair shop it was very unstable and the fan was often spinning like hell and I was getting premature shutdowns! I took a look under the heatsink and felt that the repairer had not cleaned and replaced the TIM so I did it to be safe. Since then the machine has behaved but I am thinking could the problem of instability coaused a Vista problem - like corrupting the dynamically linked library - ie do I need to re-install Vista?FS9 is just not the same without UT and GE.Any help?flapless
